Our sweet kitty Tofu has been to Bay State Vet ER twice due to complications with Feline Urinary Disease and we were very impressed with his care both times. Dr. Nelson, Dr. Klocke and all of the staff treated him with a high degree of respect and professionalism. They kept us updated on his care even when they were very busy with urgent cases. I also felt the price was quite reasonable for the level of care provided compared to what we have been charged elsewhere.

From reception to exit, the Bay State staff were caring and patient; I brought my dog in because of some odd behavior and unfortunately, the diagnosis was not good. The seriousness of the situation caught me off guard and I was not expecting that I would have to make decisions about treatment options for a condition that I was unaware of just a couple of hours previous. I was at a loss, but the doctors explained things patiently and compassionately until I had a better understanding and could think clearly (as a side note: I can't imagine having to do this kind of thing on a regular basis).
This was definitely the best place to handle the situation and I am grateful for their treatment and kindness.

Last night my wife and I had to bring our 13 year old cat in for an emergency. We knew he wasn't doing well and expected the worst. Every member of the staff that we interacted with was extremely polite and compassionate, which is exactly what you want when your family member is sick.
Our veterinarian Taylor quickly assessed our fur baby Monk's condition and came to speak with us. It was, as we feared, but suspected, too severe to be treated. Instead of pushing us to spend thousands of dollars (which we would've if he could have bounced back to normal), she was straight forward about the nature of his condition and his unfortunate prognosis.
We made the extremely painful (for us) decision to end our baby's suffering.
We were allowed to stay with him through the entire process, and were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye, and grieve both before, and after the procedure.
These people genuinely seem to care for the animals that are brought to them, and they handle emotional pet parents very compassionately. Nobody ever wants to need their services, but when you do, I assure you, this team is exactly who you want involved in your darkest hour.
Another little thing that most other emergency vets don't have that was absolutely huge for us, they offer an alternate exit from the building. So if you've lost your loved one, you don't need to walk back out through the waiting room. There is a separate exit where you don't need to see or speak to another human being. I never knew how badly I needed that option, because it has never been an option anywhere else I've been in these scenarios.
Thank you Bay State for making an extremely painful experience just a little bit more bearable. We hope to never need your services again, but if we do, it's comforting to know that you're there.
We included a few photos of Monk from when he was happy and healthy because you only got to meet him at his worst moment. We thought you deserved to see some of his best.
Thank you again for everything you do.

Horrible experience. Brought my dog in at 2:30 am and they came and told us she was dehydrated and they were running blood work she then had to stay the 12 hours, then came home because she was doing better, her blood work was looking better & she ate. They didn’t have a straight answer as to what was going on with her only that it could be anaphylaxis (allergic reaction). The night she came home was ok. Still not herself tho, then symptoms started again had her urine tested at her NORMAL VET (a day after leaving the Emergency vet), which came back as a pretty bad UTI. So not only do I have a hefty bill from the emergency visit that I thought should be solved, I now have an extra bill cause they didn’t even check after all the time she was there.

In an ER, educated vet techs are critical to successful patient care. It’s important to treat them with respect!

Compassionate and respectable staff. All are very friendly and listen to clients very thoroughly. Most places are money-hungry and do not provide thorough diagnosis and care, and do not actually care about clients and their animals - Bay State ER does! Great and CLEAN waiting room with outlets for charging devices, coffee station, and vending machines. Took good care of my fur baby!

We unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our baby, Cody. I was completely heart broken, but both the doctor and the staff were so amazing. They provided Cody (and me) with such care. I cannot thank them enough.

Our sweet Coco Bean was a patient in the hospital for 2 consecutive nights. There aren't words that fully express how thankful we are that we took her to their ER unit. The staff is professional and knowledgeable. They went out of there way to care for our 12.5 yr old puggle, and to keep us informed. Nurse Kim was so good to our girl. I highly recommend Baystate Animal Hospital.

After our French Bulldog passed away from a Failed surgery, She sas bleeding out and they couldent do anything. The women at the counter doing billing insulted us while we where crying after just putting our french down.
The women full well knowing we just uthinozed our frenchy baby. Had no compasion, and. Basically made us tell her our frenchy was dead. She had no compasion or care for people, animals, or her Job. Asking inappropriate questions & basically trying to make us upset to the point of crying more... she wanted us to yell at her & make a scene. She was extreamly rude & the other staff sat their and let her belittle us in our time of morning.
This has haunted me for over a year now. That was completly unacceptable behavior.
It cost us 10,000$ for them not to perform surgery for 48 hours. And she bleed out to the point they didnt want to or couldnt save her. After she was dead, the vet informed us that if she did survive. She would have only lived for 4 month. Why they did not tell us this before surgery I do not understand.

Great staff and very empathetic to you and your pet's needs. Thank you to the staff who helped us when we brought our beloved senior pup Pops. The staff were so incredibly nice and helped us through the process of having to put Pops down and making it as easy as it could be during a tough time. Thank you again to everyone and for being so wonderful to us and our Pops.
