In Sturbridge CT. Infamous curtain place. Lovely traditional & country-style curtains. Prices reasonable. Love to roam around store just to dream!

Over the years, starting about 1983, I've been a regular customer... and always a happy customer too. But how often does one need curtains, so it's been a sporadic business relationship. Well, we are refurbishing a bathroom and it's time to replace the curtains. Looking for my time-tested and reliable source... only to find out that I'm a bit too late. Now it's time to find an alternative but I don't think I'll ever be quite as happy as I once was. It's a sad day.

I went online today to see if Country Curtains was still selling The Greenwich Collection valances. To my saddened surprise, I discovered they went out of business. I thought, "OH NO!" I'm wondering if the Amazon monopoly has choked & killed yet ANOTHER business. It's bad enough Amazon is the reason for hundreds of shopping malls closing across America (just go on YouTube). Sadly, it's too late for Country Curtains. I've already been doing the following, but now more than ever, I'm going to make a concerted effort to shop at stores outside of Amazon. These other businesses (especially small businesses) need our business more than ever! R.I.P. Country Curtains! I'll miss you.

A sad goodbye to Country Curtains: I understand that the customer demographic has changed over the years, people are not in the same home for decades anymore, and many people have gone the way of blinds or no window treatments at all. In my family, my Grandmother changed her curtains seasonally (yes, the whole house) and it was like looking at the Country Curtains catalog year-round at her house. My Mom - who was a great seamstress - still bought all of her curtains from them, and would also go to a store each Christmas to see what they had for "little things" like decorations, stocking stuffers, etc that were available in the stores but not in the catalog. When I purchased my condo, I swear I had about $200 left to spend after the renovations (and actual purchase itself); actually, it was probably less than that since I was in my 20's and went way over budget as it was. Still, I wanted the right roller shades and valances, so off I went to CC, and when I sold it years later (I am still sad about it), I kept two of the valances to use in the future. The fabric is heavy, gorgeous and it will definitely be used in the future. Goodbye Country Curtains, and thanks.....

So sad to learn that this company is going out of business. Have been a longtime customer and loved the quality. Noticed changes over the past few years, ie product line being expanded to include more decor, online criticism of inconsistent and poor quality curtains and draperies. Visited their Stockbridge location and was so disappointed by the unwillingness of sales staff to assist. I left empty handed...there are other places where I can spend a lot of money AND be treated well. Now I understand why this business is closing!

I can't believe they are going out of business. The curtains I purchased from them were great..I fear companies like Amazon will create a monopoly. It is not good for american consumers when our choice of products is limited.

I'm heartbroken to learn Country Curtains is going out of business. We bought a new house last year and I bought all my curtains/valances from them. I was extremely pleased with the high quality of their products. I'll have a hard time finding such window treatments in the future. I did search other stores and just could not find anything I liked as well.
