We are just coming down from the high of our daughter and her newly-wedded wife’s wedding weekend hosted at the Chocksett Inn in Sterling, MA, and let me just say - WOW!
Our daughter and her fiancé got engaged in December of 2022. We started thinking about wedding venues soon thereafter. The girls had specific criteria for a venue: lodging, getting ready, outdoor ceremony and reception all onsite but not a hotel; not a barn setting; only hosting one wedding per day; and within 1 hour driving distance for most guests. We went onto Wedding Wire and the Knot and entered our criteria, and the Chocksett Inn popped up. Having lived in Central Mass for a period, we were surprised we had never heard of it. Made an appointment to visit in January of 2023, and we met with the sales/function coordinator, Tianna, for a tour. My daughter bursting into tears the second she walked into the foyer of the ballroom, and stating “It’s so beautiful,” was all I needed to see! Give me the contract to sign! We were sold right then and there! We never had to look at another venue – this was the easiest decision in the entire wedding planning process!
Fast forward almost two years to their wedding weekend, (and 2 wedding tastings, and multiple personal repeat tours) and I just can’t say enough accolades about the Chocksett Inn! Warm and welcoming front desk at check-in; clean, comfortable, large and updated guest rooms including 2 bridal suites to choose from along with a getting ready conference room and separate sitting room; delicious onsite restaurant for dinner and after party; GORGEOUS foyer for cocktail hour, and spacious ballroom for reception dinner and dancing (with amazing food!), and beautifully landscaped grounds and garden gazebo to host the ceremony and make the perfect backdrop for photos! And while every staff member we interacted with was amazing (shout out to Mick and Paula, two of our bartenders), Tianna knocked it out of the park. She truly is the Inn’s greatest asset – her communication, attention to detail, and day of service were nothing short of exceptional! Every detail was meticulously taken care of! Never once did we feel second to any other couple who also needed her undivided attention. We flooded her with questions right up until ceremony time, and she came through with answers/solutions/ideas each time! She assured us we didn’t need our own day of coordinator, and boy, did she deliver on that promise! We came to the Chocksett Inn as strangers and left with a new family! Chocksett will forever be one of our happy places! We are so sad it’s over!
Rooms: Rooms are spacious, clean, and most come with a kitchenette.
Food and drinks: Wedding meal was delicious and restaurant food at at the Cellar Grille was amazing and quite the value in price!

I stayed in room 207 from 9/18 to 9/19 and I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed despite the 4 star review I'm leaving.
Let's start with the room and check in/out experience.
I already had a reservation, so checking in was a breeze, although I think Megan at the front desk could be a little more light hearted and enthusiastic about greeting guests.
The entire hotel looks and feels classy and elegant, it gives off more of a Bed and Breakfast style feel, as if you're walking into someone's home. Which I find to be very nice.
Now for the room, which is where I was slightly let down. While continuing the wonderful upscale vibe as the rest of the hotel, there were a few maintenance issues that were unsightly. For example, above the kitchenette cabinets were exposed high voltage wires sticking out of the wall. Decommissioned most likely, but still unsightly. Also, the wallpaper near the diminutive dining table adjacent to the kitchenette shows signs of peeling and damage from being ran into by the chair.
The bed was also pretty firm, but that's just my personal opinion. Also, there is no breakfast here, which for me is a bit disappointment given that many hotels a class lower and at half the price offer a free breakfast or varying quality as part of the experience.
This leads me to the restaurant, which saves this review from being 3 stars. Stepping into the Chocksett Cellar Grill feels like stepping into a classy, white glove sort of restaurant. The wait staff was fantastic and on top of their game, the ambiance is warm and inviting as well. Very nice.
I ordered the New England Clam Chowder for dinner, something light before bed and my goodness was it just fantastic. Rich in flavor, plenty of clam and potato chunks and of course the rich creamy broth that it was all marinating in.
In conclusion, I give the hotel experience a 3/5. The breakfast part especially disappointing given that you have a restaurant in your cellar, right there, capable of providing a basic menu.
The restaurant? 5/5. Very nice. I can see me returning to stay here next time I'm in the area, if only just to enjoy dinner.

We needed a room for one night while visiting family. This was a good location and seemed like it would be a quaint New England stay. It was a little underwhelming. One coffee pod left for us in the room, and kuerig in the lobby is $2/ea. A window AC through the wall was ok, but for the price I would expect a more modern HVAC system. The drawer to the bureau wants to be open, which means you have to squeeze between it and the bed. The best part was a food truck around the corner to get breakfast takeout. Everyone was friendly it's just not a good value.

I honestly could write a novel about our great experience with The Chocksett Inn, and Tianna specifically. From the beginning, Tianna was easy to work with, communicative, and so kind! She walked us through the entire process and was there to answer (and re-answer) all of my questions along the way. Not only does she represent the venue, but also acts as your day-of coordinator. I had asked if I needed to hire someone for this, and she assured me it would be all set. Boy was she right. The day of my wedding didn't go as expected (rain among other things) but she was attentive and ready for any curveballs. You would never have known that an inside ceremony wasn't Plan A. It was a day-of pivot that went seamlessly and beautifully. Tianna is truly so wonderful!
In terms of the venue itself, we were so happy with our choice. The Chocksett has a lot of things included in their wedding package, their catering and accommodations are on site, and you can do the rehearsal dinner in the restaurant the night before (which we did!). This made it so much easier to keep everything organized, and our guests enjoyed the ability to stay on-site. If you do get good weather, the courtyard area is so pretty for a ceremony. Our cocktail hour and reception were great as well! We had about 100 guests, but I believe it could hold a lot more.
Thank you for everything, Tianna & The Chocksett Inn Team!

I stayed at the Chocksett the night before and the night of my wedding in a bridal suite, where I was honestly slightly underwhelmed. Overall, the experience was okay.
I will say that the suite was very spacious and fit all 7 of my bridesmaids to get ready. The morning shift front desk employees are very nice.
For $360 a night though, I expect these things to not be issues: The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the wall. The keycard didn't work sometimes, and the air conditioner only cooled the living room area and left the bedroom (on the third floor of the Inn) very, very hot. I called down on the first night to see if they had any fans for the bedroom. They said no and hung up pretty abruptly. The second night I left the air conditioner on all day while we were out and it made very little difference in the bedroom.
Overall the Chocksett is beautiful. I just would not pay that amount again.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who made my our wedding day absolutely perfect. My wife and I are truly very appreciative of your hospitality, service and professionalism throughout the day and the whole process. Tianna is the absolute best person to work with and helped us coordinate the wedding every step of the way! You’re amazing at what you do and we are both incredibly grateful. I’d recommend the Chocksett to all my friends and anyone looking for a beautiful venue, a great staff and the smoothest possible experience. 5 stars all around Chocksett Team and thank you again from the bottom of our hearts

Got the Bridal suite. Only two towels like that's enough... And fake candles I was excited to put them on....None of them in the room worked, my husband went to see if they would give us batteries to fix them or give us other ones....NO this room is nice but I wouldn't waste money if they don't care about you enjoying your time and spending a lot of money for a night! And in the lobby 2$ for a coffee!!!? An like 4$ for a tiny bag of chips?! If you want just a hot tub in your room then this is fine but I wouldn't come for anything else! ( The guy at the desk could careless) Not helpful. Spent a lot of money could just have gave us batteries for the candles you had left dead! And jusy do nothing. This place isn't nice enough to charge this much and screw people over.

Nothing special. Had to pay 2$ for a keurig coffee in the lobby. No other breakfast or coffee
