I've been coming to this big y for a few weeks now because my daughters camp is close by so I frequently buy things and go to self checkout. Ive noticed the cashiers watching me each time as if im stealing which im not. I get food stamps so it would be silly of me to steal when im not even paying for them to begin with. Everytime I go there a cashier no matter where there standing comes and stands next to me without fail no matter how many other people are at self checkout. I caught the cashier leaning over and looking inside my bag today. This is ridiculous. Between here and walmart im constantly followed and checked in on as a Black woman I find this to be frustrating and half the time im with my daughter so what would I be teaching her if im stealing? It hurts all of us. I already knew this company was racist to begin with but im tired of being treated as less than a person. And if you guys think im stealing because im rushing in and out the store I have to catch the bus to go home so thats why im rushing and ive been in retail since I was 18 your store Manager used to be my boss at Stop and Shop so im pretty sure I know the in and outs of a grocery store. If you don't believe me you can check the security footage of your employee looking inside my bag.

I’ve been to and worked at multiple big y locations and fresh acres tends to be my least favorite. as someone who works for the company and works with the public i understand that people suck and that management can be poor and stressful, but i also understand the importance of making customers feel seen and cared about. everyone here is miserable, there is the occasional kind words at self checkout, but i feel that the employees here do not care about the appearance of the store/their departments, nor do they care about customer service. i have never NOT seen rotting fruits on the produce floor. i have watched on multiple occasions employees barrel through and nearly hit customers with carts and today an employee in food service nearly hit an older man with his cart and then walk around like he didn’t care and didn’t even say sorry or excuse me. lastly, when i eat the sushi here, i feel no passion. it is sad and feels like they just want to put it out and be done with the job. i know that many people enjoy sushi and appreciate the art of making it and it feels like the people making it don’t really care as much.

Otherwise known as the fancy big y in the area, it's a chock full of specialty items at the deli, not to mention other parts of the door

Hadn't been there in ages but I won't be going back. Red headed late-teen (?) cashier was miserable. First time ever that I was responded to with a curt, blunt, "no" when I asked to type in my phone number like I always do (never an issue before). Made me repeat my phone number multiple times. I specifically asked to buy 2 bags (25 items???) next thing you know...a single bag is being PACKED to the GILLS, including a half gallon of liquid! About 25 items in all. In one bag. It's sad that some people will never understand the basic concept of common consideration, not to mention, common sense. Expecting someone to carry all that with one hand is rude in itself. When I said (low tone of voice) that there was no way I could lift all that (wrist is compromised right now) her response was rude and snarky ("There's no need..."). There's no need for WHAT? For YOU? Yes, totally agree. If you're THAT precious and entitled, then you don't need to work for the public. I endured much worse in all my customer service jobs and an attitude like yours would have landed me right out the door.
