I have been looking at kittens for a few weeks. Once my husband and I saw the kitten named JJ, we knew she was the one. Given that we live 45 minutes away and work during their weekday hours, I was very appreciative that they allow placing an animal on hold. Especially with how busy Saturdays can be.
Saturday, we picked up the kitten, and the employees were all happy and very helpful to work with. The whole adoption process was smooth and easy.
She's been settling in well and adapting to her new name Toast.

This is a very nice, clean, and well thought out animal rescue.
They let us interact with the two kittens we ultimately adopted beforehand.
Because it was a Saturday, the wait to do the paperwork was lengthy.
That is to be expected on a weekend (and it meant lots of pets were being rescued).
The adoption fee is very reasonable, especially considering you get a spayed or neutered animal with their first round of shots. They are also microchipped for identification if they get lost.
It cost about $600 to spay a female cat in our area, with this in mind the adoption fee is a bargain.
They sent us home with a nice amount of kitten food.
The employees and volunteer love what they are doing and it shows.
They give you a printout of your pets veterinary record, it can also be accessed online making it easy to forward to your new vet.
Thanks for our two wonderful kittens!
Even though they did not know each other before we brought them home, they are already best buddies.

I adopted my beautiful little Daisy from this place back in 2019. The people there are absolutely friendly and are willing to take the time to hear you out, answer any questions, and teach you a few things if you are new in owning a pet. I'd definitely recommend if you are ever interested in adopting from this shelter ?

Absolutely a great experience our adopted dog is everything advertised and the staff was great leading us through their process my wife and I are extremely grateful and happy we were able to bring this special little girl home

Staff is so unbelievably rude do not leave your dog here and if you have to surrender your dog don’t do here at all especially if you have a mix breed they won’t last and they won’t bother trying to training them for a better home you are better off finding a better home for them you’re self, Trying to call them for any updates about the dogs or anything is next to impossible they also can lie. Better to find a better home somewhere just not at this or any other shelter.

They just neutered my kitten. They are quick, professional, friendly and efficient. My little guy was in by 8 and out by 3 with trouble nuggets removed. Plus they identified an issue that we need to bring up to our normal vet. Class act all around.

I called for help after finding a very pregnant stray older mama cat that started going into labor in my backseat sickly and starving in Springfield I called dakin for help I was told that if she is not friendly she will be spayed and released or humanly euthanized! They should not have such rude uncompassionate people answering the phone! Shocking in rescue to hear this!

We recently adopted our second pet from Dakin Humane Adoption Center. The people there are caring and wonderful. The facility is clean and the animals are loved, happy, and well cared for.

Very caring and informative staff. Clean environment for shelter animals and staff cares about them. Also they give you a lengthy information sheet good and bad about animal so you can see if they are a good fit for you. I would recommend adopting from here.

Scheduled an appointment to get my cat spayed. The process was extremely simple, dropped my girl off and picked her up the next day. Only problem is she came home with fleas… please pet owners be careful bringing your pet here and check them thoroughly!
