I started training at the training room during covid (formerly at Healthworks) and I stay for Hua. Hua is so empathetic, she knows her clients so well and personalizes the workouts for both ability and goals. The Training Room is a cozy space that produces results. I love it!

I've been going here for about a year now, and it's been so good! I've been working with Kevin who is awesome, gives great advice both during the session and for exercising at home, and is a super clear, encouraging, and knowledgeable teacher. It feels great to see yourself making so much progress (being able to lift way more, do more reps, generally feeling more energetic, not getting tired as easily, also I can touch my toes now! Thanks Kevin!) while having a good time throughout. Two thumbs up!!

Love this gym! The community is so supportive and positive, and workouts kick butt! All the coaches are really good at scaling the workouts, and really focus on safe movements. Just overall great energy!

First time going to a personal trainer. Every staff member at The Training Room has been friendly, professional, and encouraging. While it is a bit pricey it is worth every penny.

I like this place. They got me in for June and May 2022 for the small group training. I like the fact that it is a 7am class and the programming and instructor are really good. The cost is $260 for 1 month which is not cheap but also not like, Equinox prices for personal training. Will likely continue in the summer/fall 2022 if they have the space. Parking is a little tough if you do not have a Somerville Permit (need to find a meter in the AM or just hope you do not get towed in front of the Car Wash place). Overall a great spot in the Cambridge/Somerville area. Reminds me of Ethos in the South End.

I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but it feels really important to give a shout out to Tyler at The Training Room because of how he's helped me get stronger. I first started working with Tyler ~2012/13. I was having terrible SI joint & foot pain and was disabled in a lot of ways. I had finished multiple rounds of physical therapy & was told to do pilates by my Physiatrist, but that was too much too soon. I was connected to the TR by a PT at Spaulding Hospital. I was fortunate enough to be matched with Tyler. I can't remember the details, but I know that Tyler has helped me go from that weak state to my current state of having a 4.5 yo daughter whom I can carry around. I also recently started to do some light trail running which I have not done in 8 years. There was a 2.5 year hiatus in working with Tyler (2018-2020) because I moved to southern CA. After trying a couple local gyms earlier this year, I realized how high level the Training Room staff is compared to what's out there and decided to reach out to see if Tyler could see me remotely during the pandemic. He has been able to train both me and my husband and give us highly attuned training via zoom. I joked with my husband about how Tyler is the Jerry McGuire of the training world because he gives you the kwan - "love, respect, community". I said that other people may look at us training with Tyler and feel jealous that we get the kwan. We can't say enough about Tyler and his passion for his craft of personal training. He studies everything from breathing, to posture, to minute details of movement & form. If you want a stickler in the best of ways, he's the guy. And, as a bonus, you also get the Kwan.

Amazing! I have been working out at/with The Training Room for about ~2+ years. I started with in person classes which are invigorating, varied, fun and always kicked my butt! The instructors are stellar: they guide you, offer variations, focus on form and challenge you( no matter where you are in your fitness journey). During the start of the pandemic I transitioned to online classes and have been doing them ever since. Highly recommend! Thank you to Hua (my absolute favorite class is her 50/50) and Tyler for keeping me fit and inspiring me to move at 7am. I love the variety and am always learning( during Thanksgiving last year Hua programmed a plan where exercises spelled various foods... how freaking creative)!! My form, strength and conditioning have all improved significantly since joining. These instructors really care. Now go try a class!!

I started taking personal and group classes from Training Room since September 2018. I used to be a couch potato and and never enjoyed exercising unless it's a game. Two years later I can see my muscles growing and feel much more confident. Hua is my personal trainer. She is very professional and fun to work with. She helped me to stay motivated and that's the main reason I can keep doing this for this long. Her 50/50 group class is also one of my favorites. It's a pity that I can't take this class during pandemic as I don't have a stationary bike at home. By taking online personal training and group circuit training classes during this pandemic, I'm glad that I stayed strong and didn't gain weight :). I highly recommend Training Room to people who want to make exercise their habit.

I've had nearly 300 sessions at The Training Room, in both of their Somerville locations. I started out doing personal training with Jenny Cunha, who I absolutely love and adore! You can check her out on Instagram and see how inspiring she is! I was only doing 1/2 hour, twice a week. Now I do two 1 hour circuit training classes and an hour of personal training a week. I have accomplished so much over these past several years. When I first started, I was 38lbs heavier, had horrible back pain, tons of stress. Now I am pain free, and stronger and fitter than I have ever been! Every single person that works there is a delight. They greet you with a warm smile and welcome. There are all different shapes, sizes and levels of fitness, and no one feels uncomfortable or out of place. They modify all exercise to your specific needs. They recognize and celebrate when you have a breakthrough. I just love it there. It feels like home! I am constantly being challenged. My biggest joy is being able to do 5 perfect body weight chin ups! I worked hard to get there, but could not have done it without the expert training I received. They give excellent queues for good form and execution of all the exercises. I see the same faces over and over, which is a sign of customer loyalty and dedication! Highly recommend!
