Bathrooms in store are a disaster area. It looks like they don't clean too often.

Stop and shop website says no appointments necessary for flu and shingles vaccines. In fact there isn’t even an option to make an appointment on the website. I show up with no line and two pharmacist on duty and they told me to call tomorrow to make an appointment. I’m on crutches. It’s extremely difficult for me to get around right now. They just couldn’t be bothered even though they weren’t busy. If the website had said call for an appointment I would’ve called for an appointment. Instead I wasted my time at great discomfort to me.

Great for getting prescriptions ... but my doctor told me to get a hand splint.. and told me any pharmacy woudl carry them.. very common. Nope. knee brasses, elbow braces.. but limited selection of spits/braces. I asked the pharmacist .. "sorry.. guess we do not carry hand splints."

If anyone is wondering what "blame shifting " looks like, look no further than the store management at this Stop and Shop located on the McGrath Hwy Their recent behavior is extremely disturbing. I agree with these reviews with 3 stars bc it's true that most of the individuals that work there are great at what they do. The deli, seafood & meat etc are awesome. I switched banks to Citizens bc it's more convenient but I've gone back to the BOA bc the Citizens ATM etc is right next to customer service (another place to avoid like the plague). That speaks volumes about the sketchy management. SMH it's darn near impossible to get worse than than the BOA This being said, I've personally witnessed one of the (three) managers become verbally abusive and act in an aggressive, threatening manner. I contacted their corporate office with specific details by email but "Ethics division" at the corporate office in Quincy has yet to address. They have obviously not reviewed the video of this incident that occurred at the most heavily trafficked area in the store-at the entrance next to the DD located in the store. They either don't have the ability to properly keep the public safe via their "surveillance cameras" or they've seen it and bc it's not up for debate so they can't. "Ppl with nothing to hide, hide nothing." Couple that with the old saying "The hand of one is the hand of all" and what we've got here is basically any encounter with that store is a crap shoot. We've got a better chance at Encore than this Stop and Shop. I quickly learned how to use the self-check out in another attempt to avoid that manager by any means necessary. It would be a lot easier if he wasn't creepy and scary. He uses his physical size, especially his girth to intimidate ppl. It always stuck in my crawl thinking back to the employee strike. Not bc the employees/union went on strike bc that's probably the only way to get through to this kind of mentality. Ppl have the right to exercise their feelings and peacefully protest. It's the fact that the powers that be let it drag on for such a lengthy time period. I clearly remember trying shop for Easter/Passover dinner but to do so I had to cross the picket lines and that didn't feel right so I just bought the kosher basics and my family had the worst Passover dinner I've ever made. To not negotiate in good faith, to allow some pennies come before the good of the community, idk it's a poor reflection on this corporation. I'll continue to post this saga unless of course, I'm subjected to retaliation in some form. My best guess is it's possible/probable I already am.

Yes. I think the produce is fresh and reasonable priced. Best deal is the Keurog coffee pucks. And now they have robots working at the store!

One star for corporate management practices. Five stars for the employees for not putting up with unconscionable business practices (taking away benefits), striking, and winning. Bought my loyalty with that one. Unless I hear of management picking off organizers and firing them/ short shifting their hours. Corporate really screwed the pooch on that one. How much did they lose during all of that? I mean in sales strictly, because it'd be hard to put an exact figure on the damage those greed-driven folks did to the brand.

The deli department manages to surprise me every time. I've gotten a pound of provolone sliced so thin, it was almost like it was shaved all because the person before me ordered whatever paper thin and the person couldn't bother to change the thickness. Today I was surprised with this in my sliced cheese. Why on earth this did end up in the trash is beyond me, but to include it is just poor judgement/ customer service which is the norm most of the time. And while the steak tips can be a great deal when they are on sale, they seem to "forget" their butchering skills when the price drops.

The stop & Shop on Union Tpke. in Queens has a lot of organic & gluten free options. They don't, however, sell Kite Hill brand vegan cream cheese. We still have to travel to Fairway or Whole Foods to buy our vegan cheese.

5 stars for Tony in produce - he saw me a bit confused in front of the cantaloupe and took great care to explain how to choose a ripe one. He also gave me a few other helpful hints for washing my fruits and veges. A lovely sweet man.
