Big Fish Little Fish Pet Store
55 Elm St, SomervilleThe owner is very knowledgeable about his fish and takes excellent care of them. Has a great variety of freshwater and semi-tropicals, especially bettas. I'm super pleased with the corydoras and shrimp I got here.I'm sceptical of some of the other animals for sale (birds, rabbits) but I do not know what is adequate for them so I can't say if their quality is on par with the fish.

Stinky's Kittens & Doggies Too
110 Bristol Rd, SomervilleThis for the review that Carlosleonmakeuphair posted a few minutes ago. I was at the salon when the assistant mention to you severl times that they do no do Lion Trims or any cuts on cats. you ask again and again three times. The assistant again said sorry we do not sir. So I do not understand if someone says they do not offer that service, than why get upset with them a lie about them having bad customer service!

669 Somerville Ave, SomervilleI could not say enough. From the second Buddy and I walked in , we both felt super comfortable and I felt as though my baby was in the best of hands at the pet spa. Theresa was so sweet and gave buddy some love and super yummy salmon treats and he warmed right up to her. Jean groomed buddy and he couldn’t smell better, his paws are nice and clean and his nails are trimmed perfectly. He was so happy and I can’t wait to keep bringing him back for all of his grooming needs. Thank you so much Pet Spa team.

Pet Sitting & Training

Zen Dog Training
391 Medford St, SomervilleAs a first time dog owner, I was anxious about where to start with training. When I heard about Zen Dog Training and saw they had a puppy class, I knew it was the right fit for my new puppy and me. Pete has been our instructor and he's been great! He's super patient with answering questions and gives helpful feedback when we show him what we've been practicing. I was definitely overwhelmed having a new puppy, but it was reassuring to know that each week if I worked on the homework with my puppy that we'd improve. My puppy benefited from being able to play with other puppies her age each week. I've also found having access to the Zen Dog Training Puppy Course resources online to be really helpful especially when I needed a reminder of what was covered in class (the videos, comics, and blog posts are easy to understand). I definitely would recommend Zen Dog Training! We have our last class this week and I'm going to miss it when it's over.

Koshari Mama
585 Somerville Ave, SomervilleDelicious and the servings were huge. Plenty to share. We had two large dishes and a dessert to share between two people (no drinks) for $47. Personally, I’ve had smaller lunches for more than that. Updated from previous review on 2025-12-29

Sacco's Bowl Haven
45 Day St, SomervilleMy wife and I chose this as our venue for our wedding reception and we both have absolutely zero regrets! Everyone involved from the event manager, to the bartenders, to the event staff were extremely communicative, accommodating, and overall lovely to work with.
We chose an assortment of small bites for the cocktail hour and had salad and a variety of flatbread pizzas for our mains. We brought in cakes from a local bakery as the main dessert but Sacco's also provided apple cider donuts for that nice fall in New England touch. Prior to the night my wife and I decided on the open bar tab and they were very communicative on when we approached that limit and what steps we wanted to take afterwards. The space was very comfortable for our ~85 guests and once the tables were cleared for dancing, even more so (people were distributed between dance floor, bowling lanes, and the bar that goes deep into the venue).
I highly encourage everyone to consider Sacco's for big events. Again their staff is amazing and the food and the vibes are unparalleled. It was truly one of the best nights of our lives and we will be back for many many more nights of bowling and pizza!
However if you're just looking for a night of fun and bowling, I'd definitely recommend booking a reservation at least two weeks in advance especially if you want to come on Fridays or a weekend. The cocktails are amazing, reasonably priced, and the bartenders have great banter. There's always a seasonal cocktail selection that is amazing (there's a lot of cider and maple related drinks at this time). I was raised in NYC (team Brooklyn water pizza) and can safely say that this place has very good flatbread pizza. Perhaps considered a secret menu item since it's no longer on the menu, I think the best pizza is called the Community pizza (red sauce, cheese, caramelized onions, and mushrooms) thank me later.
This place is an amazing little gem in Davis Square (easily accessible from the Red Line, less than 5min walk away from the Davis T stop) and I believe every Tuesday they do a community bake for a local nonprofit (some proceeds from that nights pizza sales go to the nonprofit). Go there and have great pizza, imbibe, brush off those gutterballs, take in the vibes and have an amazing time.

Civility Social House
490 Foley St, SomervilleWe got a spare rib ragu and a meat sauce rigatoni. The food was definitely delicious, and the portions were reasonable, but the food was quite heavy. Definitely tasty food but I would love to see a lean option that wasn't a 28 dollar grilled chicken salad option!

Winter Hill Brewing Company
328 Broadway, SomervilleCame here for trivia (Thursdays at 7:30!), and it was pretty packed. Luckily we were able to snag a table and ordered some beers. The workers are all very nice and there's a real sense of community here! A very homey and welcoming spot. The latkes were also delicious- tangy, savory, and not too greasy. I also highly recommend the pretzel, which had a nice bite to it, and came with delicious sauces and amazing pickled beets!
