I am not a customer (yet) of Rockland Trust. But I paid a short but extremely sweet visit to this branch late on a Thursday. All I needed was a roll of quarters and I was greeted like a VIP. Made me want to bank here.

Sometimes you feel the bank is just a Bank, another institution giving you another service. But when I opened my account last week in East Boston Savings Bank (Somerville, MA), I felt this Bank as my adviser, as my friend who wants something good for me. I had excellent attention, they answer all my questions and give me even the information that did not know that I need. They gave me time to understand the products and take my desition. I went with my 5 yo girl and they were kind to her when she was trying to participate in our conversation. I enjoyed this experience. I can speak English very well, but they offer me to speak in Spanish too (my first language). Thank you, Sebastian Rodriguez, you are a good adviser and you know how to represent very well this bank. I went to Everett's office too and they were kind to other persons too, I love this bank.

Terrible Customer Service! Rude Managers. Very disorganized bank. They don’t even pick up the phones. Do not bank there...go to Citibank or somewhere else.

Horrible to non-existent customer service. They lost $1,000 in an external transfer and REFUSE to look into it; they just keep telling me that the other bank must be at fault. THEY ARE NOT.

So far the only bank that provides I guess a down to earth service simple but very helpful also very welcoming!

I gave them a one star because you must - in order to send the review, but I'll give them no star at all. The worse bank I have ever used in my entire life. Their customer service is terrible....Stay away from this bank.

This is for the East BOSTON Savings Bank in Union Square at 37 Union Sq, Somerville, MA 02143. The best thing about this bank is it is very easy to find. If you are in Union Square, with a 360° spin, you will see it jutting out pointing to the center of Union Square. The bad thing with this bank is there is a glitch when opening a new account. When you open a new checking account, you are given pages and pages of documents and printouts. So many sheets of paper, they give you a bank folder to help you carry them all. The problem is not one of the documents they give you display your address, phone number, SS number, employer or email address. This means that any bank worker can enter in any information under your name and you will never know it until something goes wrong. This is exactly what happened to me. The bank worker opened an account under my name, but put someone else's email address, so someone else received my account welcome to online banking. The person receiving the bank's new account welcome email phoned the main office of East Boston Savings Bank to report a possible scam, then an online banking specialist from East Boston Savings Bank called me to identify who I really was. The online specialist was very smart and helpful, but really, a local branch worker should not have the power to create accounts making up any information they want with the customer unable to know that it happened. Of the thick stack of papers printed out when making a new account, there needs to be one sheet of paper that shows the customer what personal information was entered by the bank worker in their name. Of course I wanted to change my password, but the first day an account is created it appears that changing your password at home is not allowed. The online system gives an error message saying that the limit for changing your password has been reached for the day. But I was able to change my password the next day without problem. One other issue that is very small is when opening the account, I asked very clearly to have monthly statements via postal mail. I told the bank worker the reason for this. I was very clear. But my account was created with online statements selected. My suggestion if you open an account at East Boston Savings Bank is to deposit only a small amount of money and let it stay their a long time for your safety.
