They didn't make her feel embarrassed or funny, they made her so so comfortable and were sooo caring and kind.. They certainly have a life long customer here!!Service: Hairstyling

I've been going to Xiomara's for 13 years (no exaggeration lol) I take my daughter there as well! I took a break for a few years but I've since returned. I will say that it's a Dominican salon however the staff speak English. The owner is usually working too unless she's away. I do recommend making an appointment in advance and arriving on time as there is a heavy turn around during the weekends. During the week there's a better chance for you to come in a slow paced manner. I'm sure this is a given, but bring either a book or your phone to have some entertainment while you dry. It'll help the time pass. Sometimes I am out in a little over an hour sometimes it's more if other clients arrive late which then pushes everyone else back. It is very culturally Dominican meaning there is sometimes a wait, rollers are done, blow drying is done, you're straightened, and you're good to go. However, I will say that if you're looking for a specific service -- you should mention it. For example, I do not sit under the dryer, I get wash/condition, then blow dry and straighten it. Its never been a problem. Sometimes the dry process depends on your type of hair though. For some it's best to sit under the dryer for others it's okay not to. They offer hair treatments, dye services, waxing, and sometimes basic manicures (if they have the staff.) Not sure about relaxers so I would check in on that. Parking is off street and metered. That meter lady DOES NOT play so make sure you're adding your coins on time. Last I went I also used the Passport parking app and that worked fine. 2 hour limit on most spots. They do accept cards, I recommend tipping in cash! The longer the hair, the pricier it is (common sense since it's more work) TO ME -- their prices are reasonable in a time where inflation is going crazy. I'll attach photos of my hair and my daughters hair but I've built trust over the years so I won't be going anywhere else. :-)

Don't even bother going here if you are black and have natural. I should have known that something was wrong over the phone when she asked me if I had soft or knotty knotty hair. When I went in she actually inspected my hair for softness and then commented that she has a pain in her hand so just making sure she can do it. This is while she was blow drying other women with straight, european hair. When I asked about pricing, she actually tried to tell me that she didn't know how long my hair would take so that might affect the price! I'm not sure where else this level of discrimination would be tolerated. Imagine going to a spa and being told that their massage prices depend on your body size or skin texture. She hurried me from under the blow dryer during my deep conditioning saying she had another customer coming and needed to hurry (mind you I had an appointment and had only been there about 20 minutes). She then pulled out a mangled round brush with short bristles, which was full of other people's hair. I explained to her that this brush was not ideal for curly hair and would rip out my hair from the root. I gave her my denman brush to use and she was not pleased. Eventually, she said she could not do my hair because she didn't want to mess it up. She then proceeded to do another customer's hair. I braided my wet hair in two and left. Her entire attitude and demeanor the entire was as if she was doing me a favor by even touching my hair. I went right down the street to Marie's salon where they used the denman brush and quickly straightened and the flat ironed my hair. I walked out with a great style. Unlike the owner here, they were not blatantly racist and rude, but we're very welcoming and listened to my concerns, and adapted their technique to give me the result I wanted.

Cindy is the best! She takes time to listen to you and what you want done even when you don’t know exactly how to explain it. She also does extensions and lashes and is available for hair and makeup for special occasions! A great salon run by a fantastic mother daughter duo.
