Horrible service not well maintained would not recommend this storage unit to anyone. Mice infestation that ruined all my belongings I had to put a star to post this but they deserve none.

Some of the bad part of my experience was due to my own personal hardship during my time renting with North Shore storage, but Northshore did not help the situation in anyway. I was forced out of my apartment and needed to find storage in such a short time and found North Shore storage in Salem and the price was amazing so I chose this storage facility. Upon arriving, there was no one to help me get to my unit. I had to piggyback off of another tenant to get through the gate and once I found my unit realized the unit was small but not only that My movers could not even fit in the freight elevator with big items so I was forced to get a bigger unit outside which is fine whatever but later realized I was given the higher price than what was advertised online Even after explaining my situation. But whatever I get it make your money I paid for two months in advance because I knew my situation was going to be tight in the coming months. Unfortunately I was missed my next payments and was charged late fees.. ok I get it but then they raised the rent of my unit. Making it impossible on an already impossible situation for me to catch up (and no payment plans were allowed) next ended up losing my job so I could not pay for the unit at all which I totally understand the next step was forfeiture. An auction was scheduled all this time I have been calling and communicating and realized late I could get assistance with it and communicated that but the auction still moved forward and all my things were sold which I’m sure sold for less that what I owed but ok fine, the thing that gets me is that I communicating with the storage unit facility the whole time I was told first that I have maxed out on all extra fees which was a lie they kept coming and then I was told I’d be able to salvage whatever was left over and I would get a call when I’d be able to come by I literally cried with joy but never got a call and that was a lie, (there were more lies told but just can’t list them all) they gave me false hope. So finally I called and was told nothing was left behind then hours late received a call that a bag was in fact left for me and I started to feel some relief but when I arrived it was a small a paper bag with some documents of my which I am grateful because it was my ultrasound pictures that I did desperately want but it just seems very suspect. Plus when I arrived I saw a bunch of things thrown to the side for trash (not my belongings) which makes me wonder if they just trashed my things, it was just an awful experience. I was lied to I was cheated, and it was just an awful situation.Everyone sounded so pleasant, but they never meant what they said. No one cared especially around the holidays it just sucked All my things gone my babies things gone and a lot of what I wanted back was of no value to anyone but me and it’s just unfortunate that they had me believing that I could get some of it back. I think that was worst than anything.

Closed unit and moved out on November 10th. Was told we were all set and closed at the facility. Still being billed. 5 calls with promise of a call back to resolve… still no response 3 weeks later… sad on service

We were customers of Northshore Self Storage for 11+ years. They continued to charge us for the unit 6 weeks after we moved out. Despite numerous calls, emails - they have never refunded the over-charge, although they readily agreed it was an accounting error on their part. It is now too late to dispute on our credit card. Terrible customer service !!

Price is comparable to other storage places. Never had an issue with access or availability of carts. One of the elevators has been broke for months, but other then that, good. Hard to ever get a hold of over the phone directly with the office at the storage unit and not the general customer service though if issues.. have to go in person.

I opened the contract for a storage bin at Northshore Self Storage in January 2022. I have few complaints about the physical storage facility: it was reasonably clean, if not very modern, provided wheeled carts to move items from the elevator to our storage unit, and the facility was kept at reasonable temperatures and humidity so that items were kept in good condition. One issue with the facility was that the door to the building our unit was in was continuously unlocked over the past several months due to the need to replace a part for the electronic door entry system, and thus anyone could enter the building who was able to come in the gate.I decided to end the storage contract earlier this month. While this was partly due to the ability to relocate the items to another in-house storage, I might have considered keeping them there longer but for the several price increases that occurred over the relatively short period we were there with Northshore Self Storage. From an initial advertised price of less than $70/month for the unit, required insurance brought it up to nearly $90. Management's policies were inflexible when I asked if this insurance could be waived due to coverage under another policy. Then two price increases within the space of a year had us at $150/month, which seems high for the space and location, and frankly well above inflation and any reasonable increase in costs.I will say that Tina, who is relatively new in her position managing the location, was extremely helpful and friendly upon our termination and check-out. She inquired about the past history, and kindly agreed to waive what would have been an additional termination fee given that their policy is not to pro-rate months even when customers have given the stipulated 15-day advance notice (which means in effect it is a 30-day advance notice). Her professionalism left a better impression than what might otherwise have been the case. I would recommend doing some serious price comparisons, and seeing if you can lock in prices for at least the first year or longer, before renting.

I was forced to give a star. I have been using storage for over 10 years and when the place I LOVED closed for renovations I was forced to choose somewhere else. I came here. After three months, they DOUBLED the fee and said it was in the contract they could do so at their own discretion. When I mentioned that my unit was still being advertised at the rate I signed up on they told me "they're allowed to attract new customers". Ok, so this enormous upcharge made at their whim became difficult to keep up with. I was almost a month behind when I called and asked them to remove a $40 late fee and they refused and sent me a letter threatening auction. I complained and wouldn't let up but was ultimately told no. Days later, I received a letter stating they'd be placing another upcharge on the rent of the unit!!!! There's no where to go but to catch up and MOVE OUT!! Terrible experience. Mean people. PLEASE don't put yourself through this.
