“I'm standing in the middle of Bearskin Neck Street. My eyes reach the end of the most picturesque street in Rock Port, in the
Essex County, Massachusetts, United States.
On my left side, Old Harbor Rd begins; and a little further but now on the right side begins Bradley Wharf. I stand for a few minutes in this tiny carrefur, enjoying the perspective, with its old buildings in front of me, now very well groomed.
pastel colors, some white and others in different shades of navy blue..., from all the houses emerge attractive and picturesque advertisements of various manufacturing, banners and shipping flags, which advertise everything: bazaars, nautical clothing stores, local crafts; painting galleries everywhere with their paintings on permanent display; beyond, something that looks like a tavern, here, a holistic store. It is not possible to visit them all in one day - I am on my way to Salem.
I decide on The Pewter Shop. I enter. What a way to reflect natural light from this material (!) - made up of 90-95% tin, 2-5% copper and antimony (already lead-free). What some call, disparagingly, “poor silver”: Vases, trays, jugs, centerpieces, a universe of shapes, styles and purpose. Although people smoke less and less or do so outdoors, ashtrays are the most in that fair of shiny objects; Better than him
Steel. One of the great advantages of Pewter is that it does not corrode or stain over time. For me, better than silver: lighter, brighter, cheaper.
I leave without buying anything but that doesn't mean they greeted me and said goodbye with a smile. I continue my way. Now I am admiring a great painting, a Marina, “this painting would decorate an entire room, alone!” I think.
I go back a little to take a photo of a detail. I return to my starting point, right in the middle where these 3 streets converge. Where to continue? I have left my car on Atlantic Av; It's the weekend, and I've come here stopping in every window, in every little store in town and I've even tasted a Sam Adams Lager beer in one of them - in a glass container, the size of which is perfect for me - my favorite, for long.
I begin to walk in a straight line to the sea and enjoy all the diversity of goods and merchandise sold here. Each house front is a small postcard. There is no one to go to. He took out my cell phone and took the best or most original facades; The sideboards are also spectacular and very creative.
I observe, now close to coming across the Sea Front Roundabout, at the end of Bearskin Neck, the old part of the
Rock Port Pier. Some multicolored cylinders hanging along the entire length of a large warehouse catch my attention. That whole set of objects in apparent chaos attracts me. All of this forms a very aesthetic and balanced set. A few days later I find out that what caught my attention so much has been the subject of paintings and photographs and that the site is called “Motif 1” and that it has even appeared in movies(!).
Such is the magic that surrounds this city bordering the county of Essex, Ma. Discovered at the beginning of the 17th century, by the French, but practically used as a logging and fishing port by the inhabitants of Gloucester and made official as a city until the 1840s.

We all made separate purchases and not only is this boutique, full of really cool authentic pieces, but the business owner Had such a nice way about her. She wrapped all of our items and put them all in the most adorable bags. It’s not every day that you go into a boutique and don’t get the dreaded “do you need a bag?”- she did all of this no matter what the cost of each purchase. Wonderful experience. Cannot wait to go back!”
