Pet Care
Reading Animal Clinic: Shurland Elizabeth C DVM
1312 Main St, ReadingTo start off with I have to say the doctors, vet techs, and door greeters are great. There is a lot of staff and a few I assume are administrative. The new office is very attractive. After reading some of the reviews I can see that some of the cons are unfair because in any practice of medicine there are protocols and to make a diagnosis you do need to perform test to rule out other probable causes and many people do not understand that. I brought my dog to the clinic and was satisfied with the care. I came only because it wasn't corporate, and the Middlesex Animal Hospital closed, and its great DMV referred me. I do believe the care is superior to corporate care BUT the costs are extremely high, but I guess if you want high end service you must pay high end prices. If you are a senior and on a fixed income this is not the place for you. To sum it up, docs, techs and door greeters are very friendly and caring. If you are on social security and a fixed income this place is not for you. I was lucky enough to return to my original vet because he reopened his practice, and he has an exceptional reputation around my area and pricing for those financially constrained is affordable.

K-9 Top Performance
335 Main St, ReadingWe have had an amazing experience at K9 so far. We have an 11-month old Swissy who has been working with Carleena in the K9 Camp and the progress we’ve seen with him after a short time is incredible! We also have a Frenchie who spends a couple days a week in the daycare program, which she loves. Both dogs have boarded for multiple nights and that experience was great as well. Karen, at the front desk, is super responsive and helpful whenever we need anything, plans change, etc. It’s obvious that they all care about the dogs and try to do what’s best for them. Prior to K9 we used other places around here and I can’t imagine ever going back to them - that’s how happy we are with K9!

Cal's Creamery
122 Main St, ReadingThe ice cream is delicious with lots of fun flavors! I would stay away from the sundaes though, way too much sauce and not enough ice cream. Also the menu says they have a sweet cream flavor but the teenagers working claimed that was just the base (then why is it on the menu as a flavor?). Just get a plain cup of ice cream or a cone and you'll be good!

Dandi-Lyons
1331 Main St, ReadingEvery time I'm in Reading, I HAVE to stop Dandi-Lyons! Luckily, I got my last visit of the season in tonight. Since it's the end of the season, there weren't many flavor options left, but luckily they still had my favorite--moose tracks! I ordered a regular scoop in a cup, and it was packed to the brim with 12 ounces of ice cream. I love the mix of chocolate and peanut butter without one overpowering the other. I also tried the chocolate overload, which truly lived up to its name! It might be too much for those who aren't hardcore chocolate lovers. I usually like to get my ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, and at Dandi-Lyons, all toppings cost about $0.50-$1.15 extra. However, it's worth the slight up charge because the ice cream itself is very reasonably priced. Other popular flavors in my family include purple cow (black raspberry ice cream with white chocolate chips) and chocolate soft serve. There's also some allergy-friendly options! My cousin has a nut allergy, so all we have to do is let the waiter know before ordering his ice cream and they will make it separate and pay special attention to avoiding allergens. I can't say enough nice things about Dandi-Lyons, it truly is one of my favorite ice cream places of all time!!
