What happens when you share a secret? It's no longer a secret.....though, West of Chestnut sits right on Hancock street, right on top of all these amazing bars and restaurants, so I guess we're okay. It's pretty much in your face. I've been living here for about nine months - here's the scoop: Staff: Annie and Devon! These girls make my day (whenever I get to escape my apt - oh, I work from home - more on the apt in a bit). They remember life moments (and that time you went on a shopping spree) and won't judge you for your weirdo husband (I mean, he's out there...) Security on the premise: Steve-O our security guy - I once saw him chase away a vagabond drunk. Oh wait, I think that was my husband... Building: Place is always clean and smells nice (except for the garbage chute, but, that's what it signed up for). There's a pretty large social room where you can host par-tays. Speaking of, every month Annie and Devon have a full event schedule planned out. Whether it's drinks, food, or fun games, there is always something planned....now, as a planner, I know that should not be taken lightly. If you're watching your waistline - eh, that's a problem. At the end of the day, West of Chestnut is getting people to know each other as neighbors! But I work from home and just watch everyone having fun from my window over my laptop #workfromhomeproblems Apartment: Did I mention I work from home? Well I do, so that means I never leave the place! But still, TONS of natural lighting and pretty quiet where our apartment sits. Even when they're partying downstairs, I can't tell I'm missing out! Okay, but seriously, open floor concept, modern and clean so whatever is your personal home décor style, it can work; never had a problem with the thermostat and if you ever do have something go wrong (light bulbs out, sink is clogged) - you have a maintenance team who jumps on it ASAP and gets it all taken care of. If you're looking for a roof over your head -there are many out there. If you're looking for one to call a home, have people you can call friends and literally be able to drag yourself from the bar and walk a few feet home - this is the right place to call "Home."

WOC is a great building to live with great location and amenities. HOWEVER, after the management changed to Greystar Management, we weren't as happy as we were with the previous management who were more flexible, helpful, and organizing better community-building events. Moving out from WOC was sketchy too. Although we were on a monthly basis rental, Greystar's system charged us an extra month (as we let the management know about our move 1-month ahead, this shouldn't have happened). It's been more than 20 days now and we still couldn't get either that extra charge or our deposit back. GreyStar management also stopped giving us updates and responding to our emails so we are thinking about reaching out to the better business bureau. Overall, we would recommend you to reconsider these issues before moving to WOC as there are many other options now in Quincy Center.

We had lived in WOC for three years, and we really enjoyed it. The location of the apartment is perfect, with a walking distance to the red-line and surrounded by a few very good restaurants. The decoration of the apartment is stylish, and all the facilities are well operated and maintained. The people in the management team are super friendly and helpful. Especially Jared helped us a lot with our renewal and moving out. We really appreciated it!The price of the rent is not low compared with the other apartments in the same area, but I'd like to highly recommend WOC to people who want to find a modern and cozy home and enjoy a high quality life.

We lived at WoC for about 9 months before purchasing a home. Overall, it was a good experience. We loved the proximity of restaurants, stores, and the MBTA. The gym at WoC is also probably one of the best gyms we've seen in an apartment setting. We want to give shout outs to Jared for always being so helpful and kind. And also Steve for assisting with our mail/packages. Always a delight to run into! Cons:- We were assigned parking right next to the trash dumpsters and were never reassigned so we had to smell trash every time we used our car.- When there was construction being done on the floor above us, Management did not communicate/give us a notice so we were caught unexpectedly by the noise/disruption while working from home.- The walls in the hallways could have been touched up, but were left alone with marks. It didn't look as clean as it could have like the rest of the building. - There are lots of dogs in the building, so sometimes the smell of urine and the constant barking of neighboring dogs can get to you. - Rent and utilities were definitely on the higher end. Given the smaller unit, we would have expected utilities not costing as much but altogether, it can be a hefty bill.

My husband and I have been living at WOC for over 3 years. We signed for another year, mostly in part because Katherine and the WOC management team make living here a wonderful experience. Katherine puts the luxury in luxury living - think fresh lemon / strawberry infused water daily, beautiful orchid displays in the lobby, giant Jenga and four square in the courtyard, and almost every week there's a complimentary food treat (ie cookies, burgers, wine, margaritas etc). Katherine and management are personable, professional and most importantly timely! I've lived in so many apartments where management says they are going to do something and never follows up. Katherine is a straight shooter. If she says something will get done. It gets done quickly and effectively. I lived in Manhattan prior and lived exclusively in luxury building complexes. What sets WOC apart is Katherine makes WOC feel like a community and she cares about your living experience. Maintenance requests are dealt with asap and Manny the lead repair guy is awesome! WOC is really the best building to live in in Quincy Center. I have checked out all of them and couldn't be more please, esp with Greystar management.

I lived at West of Chestnut for a year while working on a temporary assignment. Really enjoyed the access to MBTA and Adams National Park. The staff was always pleasant and maintenance quickly responded to any reported issue. Neighbors were courteous and quiet. Apartment was well appointed with stepped up appliances and fixtures. I can honestly say, I wouldn't have any doubts making longer term home.

The Apts and location are great. The building and amenities are great! However, what others have shared here on the new management is true. They take seriously long to get back on anything. You have to consistently follow up and chase them to get anything done. Its been 3 months since I've left but still haven't got my deposit back. I have been calling and emailing Katherine every week. Firstly they wont answer emails or calls. When I do connect with them, i was told twice that the issue was resolved and they have requested my refund to be expedited by Greystar. However, after 2/3 weeks of not getting the refund I have to chase them again only to be given some other excuse. Still awaiting my refund!

This review is for future applicants who are looking to rent a unit at WoC in Quincy location. Before writing this review, not surprised that they've changed new management based from previous reviews. The experience with the management has been horrible and waste of time. I had went onto their website yesterday and requested for more information on a 2BR2BATHS that I was interested in. T.Y., assistant manager of this location, had reached out to me last night and asked if I would like to schedule a personal tour at 3pm today. I didn't see TY's response until this morning and responded to see if I can schedule at 4pm today instead, due to prior commitments. Never heard back from TY and sent a total of 3 follow up emails asking TY to confirm. This is a red flag. WoC's management appears to be poor and disorganized. Seriously, don't waste my time and future applicants, and get your operations management together. A contact number for Quincy location, listed in TY's response email is also no longer in service (617-769-0040). Called the main line #: 617-539-7922 and a rep gave me the same contact information (phone and email). I told him the number is not a working # for Quincy location and no one is responding via email. He paused and said "we'll follow up to resolve the issue with the phone #." This place is a joke and how are they planning to attract future tenants and keep existing ones? I cannot imagine how existing tenants would have to go through if they had any maintenance issues or issues in general? No, thank you. FYI - I've also asked to remove my contact information from their contact list. The rep said he's unable to do that and can't pull up my email at this time. Although, he did initially asked for it. Unbelievable and hung up on him. Be careful! If there's an option to rate "0" stars, I would select it. I suggest to look elsewhere, WoC doesn't appear to provide luxury apartment type of customer service.

Overall great apartment community. The management team is very receptive, helpful, and friendly. They genuinely do their best to resolve any issues that you may run into.

Greystar Management took over this property in December 2018 from Folben. I'm guessing because Greystar is charging a lower management fee and they promised they could reduce costs... It shows. The lobby looks nice but the tenant hallways have banged up walls, and the hallways smell like hot, rotten garbage (literally... the trash room smells so badly that it stinks up the hallway), one of the elevators has been broken twice this week, an emergency evacuation sign fell off the wall a couple weeks ago and I brought it to the office and it still hasn't been put back up, there's zero enforcement of quiet hours so there are dogs in the center courtyard barking until 10pm and sometimes past 11pm every night. Thankfully these apartments are close to the train and there are great restaurants downstairs... and the two Facilities guys (Adam and Manny) are fantastic. This is supposed to be a luxury building but Greystar is turning it into a typical, average building where cutting costs and collecting rent are the only priorities.

I moved into WoC about 10 weeks and have loved the experience so far. The location is prime with plenty of local restaurants within a block of the building and a short 3 minute walk to the T. The apartment and amenities are amazing but the staff that works here is the cherry on top of it all. Lisa, Rachel, and Steve always go out of their way to say hello and check up to see if there is anything to make the experience better.

My boyfriend and I moved into West of Chestnut in the Summer of 2017. As we got close to our lease being up, we stared to price out other places. We realized that WoC was one of the more expensive apartment complexes in the area, and it wasn't worth the hefty price tag. What turned us off the most was the $195/month that it cost to rent a parking spot in their garage. Our experience was fine - not great, not terrible, until the last month of us living there. The staff plays favoritism with the residents, especially when it comes to parking. They had towed my car in what they claimed to be a fire zone, except it is not marked as such. Then a few different staff members gave me the runaround and a bunch of other excuses as to why my car got towed. One of the excuses included that my registration was expired so they had to tow -- it was not expired, they just never updated their system with my new plates! The kicker of it all, after my car was towed, they allowed their concierge to park in the exact spot that I had been parked in! We left in our own terms, but not without the staff harassing us until the very last minute, and spreading stories about us to the other residents. So, in summary: Pros -location. Tons of restaurants and a short walk to the train -pet friendly -an incredible maintenance staff. If it wasn't for Manny and his crew, nothing would get done! -Apartments are pretty standard Cons -Parking! If you don't have it in your budget to pay $195/month on top of you rent, then look elsewhere. There's nowhere to park in the vicinity, and they have not built partnerships with any neighboring lots -Safety: my car was vandalized twice on the property, but WoC can't do anything because they apparently don't have security cameras in their parking lot. -Staff: staffing has been less than stellar, with the exception of maintenance. So sweet when touring, and super nice when moving in, but if you have an issue or complaint, they will turn against you. Be prepared to be treated with little respect, unless you are in the inner circle. -Price: cheapest apartment unit is about $2,250, not including utilities, which will run you up to about $2,400-$2,500 ($2,700 Max if you have a parking space). -If you are on a lower level facing Hancock Street, be prepared for a lot of noise. We couldn't open our windows without hearing busses, people, and traffic. -The staff doesn't always mention that there is construction on cottage Ave. If your unit faces Cottage, you will be able to hear the construction, and soot might end up in your apartment.

Moved in this past weekend and have been very impressed with this community. Everything is very clean and well-kept, and the staff has been nothing but helpful. Location is great, very central but still quiet.

Have been living at WoC for about 6 weeks now and couldn't love it more. Luxury building that doesn't feel stuffy (like other places we've lived in). Super pet friendly, which is a huge plus for us. Lisa and Rachel in the leasing office and Manny in maintenance are all GREAT. Super close to red line, commuter rail, and highway, which makes commuting super easy. Apartments and closets are spacious and everything feels brand new. So happy we moved here!
