Living at West of Chestnut (WoC) has been nothing short of a wonderful experience. Yes, the apartment and complex itself is nice - but the best part about living here is the staff.
The leasing office staff (Annie, Devon and Zack) are amazing, I often find myself stopping by to chat. If anything comes up they are very quick to answer questions or resolve issues. The maintenance staff (Adam and his team) are top tier. The few problems I’ve had with my apartment/utilities have been fixed quickly and with care. One of my electrical issues required follow-up and they stayed on top of it, coordinating outside electricians to come
The apartments here are not the cheapest, but for me the extra cost has been worth it many times over for the piece of mind I have living here. It’s prime location right next to the Quincy Center T and commuter rail stops. There are plenty of great restaurants along Hancock St. right around the corner.
Luxury apartments are a serious commitment, I consider myself very lucky to have ended up at WoC.

The property pretends to be luxurious but it's not. Dog waste everywhere despite a pet area outside. Dirty walls that keep getting dirtier. The elevator are ALWAYS filthy. The ceiling in the lobby partially collapsed two months ago and just got replaced. The front office has poor communication and customer service. Devon is the best part of the office and I think that makes her job harder because the actual property manager doesn't do anything but ignore tenants and Zach NEVER knows the answer to any questions and consistently misinforms people.
Maintenance is the best part of the property. They are friendly prompt and knowledgeable.
Rent isn't worth the price. Stay somewhere else that's a REAL LUXURY property.

Nice place to live. Pet owners need to be more responsible.

I’ve had a very great experience with my move-in. The office staff is so welcoming and helpful! The maintenance staff has been top notch. I’m very glad to call West of Chestnut my new home!

Best maintenance team in the game. Sazan and the supervisor (didn't get his name) came immediately and made sure the issue was resolved within a day.

I am still waiting to see where the 20% rent increase is going. I appreciate the cardio machines being fixed, but that was long overdue. I haven’t seen any updates to justify such an aggressive rent increase which is upsetting because the staff and apartments are really great. The maintenance team is always quick to respond and very friendly. Even the other tenants are great!
with that said it feels odd that we’re just supposed to accept a rent increase like it’s apart of living without seeing any benefit in return.

WoC is the best place to live in Quincy, period. We're on a block with 5 awesome bars/restaurants (and 1 more in the works), and plenty more just off the block. The T is right there. You can walk to anything you need, no car necessary. The common spaces are badass. The gym is solid. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, especially Annie. Steve the security dude is the coolest person you'll ever meet, and plays a mean guitar. The building is clean, smells good, and kept up. You get more than what you pay for.
For any reviews less than 5 stars, I promise you, the problem is the reviewer, not WoC. Most comments are about price. I grew up in Dot. I can show you a lovely crack house for $600/month if price is your problem. And you get what you pay for...except here, where you get way more.

The place is well maintained. The property managers are very responsive. A little pricey but the quality of service worth it.

It is hard to imagine a more impolite and indifferent reception and house management.
I don't recommend it.

What happens when you share a secret? It's no longer a secret.....though, West of Chestnut sits right on Hancock street, right on top of all these amazing bars and restaurants, so I guess we're okay. It's pretty much in your face.I've been living here for about nine months - here's the scoop:Staff: Annie and Devon! These girls make my day (whenever I get to escape my apt - oh, I work from home - more on the apt in a bit). They remember life moments (and that time you went on a shopping spree) and won't judge you for your weirdo husband (I mean, he's out there...) Security on the premise: Steve-O our security guy - I once saw him chase away a vagabond drunk. Oh wait, I think that was my husband...Building: Place is always clean and smells nice (except for the garbage chute, but, that's what it signed up for). There's a pretty large social room where you can host par-tays. Speaking of, every month Annie and Devon have a full event schedule planned out. Whether it's drinks, food, or fun games, there is always something planned....now, as a planner, I know that should not be taken lightly. If you're watching your waistline - eh, that's a problem. At the end of the day, West of Chestnut is getting people to know each other as neighbors! But I work from home and just watch everyone having fun from my window over my laptop #workfromhomeproblemsApartment: Did I mention I work from home? Well I do, so that means I never leave the place! But still, TONS of natural lighting and pretty quiet where our apartment sits. Even when they're partying downstairs, I can't tell I'm missing out! Okay, but seriously, open floor concept, modern and clean so whatever is your personal home décor style, it can work; never had a problem with the thermostat and if you ever do have something go wrong (light bulbs out, sink is clogged) - you have a maintenance team who jumps on it ASAP and gets it all taken care of.If you're looking for a roof over your head -there are many out there. If you're looking for one to call a home, have people you can call friends and literally be able to drag yourself from the bar and walk a few feet home - this is the right place to call "Home."

West of Chestnut was the best property I've ever rented from. The front office is very professional and responds promptly to questions/concerns. The unit itself was sleek and modern with plenty of natural light coming in from the large windows. The neighborhood felt very safe and there was always at least one person on the property to oversee things.
Especially appreciated the hotel-style carts on site to haul belongings up the elevators , the Nest thermostat in the unit, and the in-unit washer/dryer. There is a garage on site that is available for a monthly fee, but certainly was worth it for me during the winter months. The property is close to several restaurants and cafes and walking distance to the Quincy Center T station. Maintenace is prompt and friendly. Some of the cons would have to be the noise level for units facing Hancock Street, and the prices having gone up significantly. All things considered; I would recommend renting here.
