What a beautifully set up store...When we walked in, we just loved admiring all the beautiful home decor pieces and unique accent pieces. This store sells many nice things for the home that you can buy on the spot, but the store is also the base for people who want to get a professional to help decorate their homes Yates & Kennedy occupies about 500 square feet on Commercial St, and owner Mitch Yates has created areas throughout the shop that teem with personality. The shop, which has been around for over 10 years is chock-a-block full. Antelope horns lean against agate bookends, watermark pillows rest next to small oil paintings, and claw-foot candlesticks, magnifying glasses and a jewel-encrusted crown share table space. A variety of vintage wallpaper serves as backdrops to the diverse assortment. Yates has even created a space for a great assortment of espadrilles and hand screened T-shirts by his best friend, John Kennedy. The shop, like a room with character, is spirited and charming. When you visit, plan to spend some time there; you never know what you'll uncover.

Yates & Kennedy is a beautiful high end store that I feel is a must visit. It is full of gorgeous one of a kind items. I found pleasure just walking through taking everything in. I found a beautiful pillow that I feel in love with. I ended up leaving without purchasing it. Only to think a about the pillow all day. In the end deciding to return and make the pillow mine. I found the owner friendly and kind, yet a little soft spoken. He seemed to appreciate customers commenting on his beautiful items. Ultimately I was thrilled that I stepped foot in Yates & Kennedy and I will think of that store fondly each time I gaze upon my gorgeous pillow while at home. Even if you are not planning on purchasing you should stop in to Yates & Kennedy just to take in the beauty.

Visited the store in 2019 and 2021 for the July 4th weekend. Both times chatted with the owner briefly. The merchandise is mostly stuff that was trendy in 2012-2014 (think Ken Folk frozen in time) and the owner gives a pretentious off-putting vibe. Of course I was dressed more rugged than east coast prep and am a millennial as opposed to a young boomer (or geriatric gen x-er). I did make a purchase (small necessary / function items, not decor) both times which makes the attitude somewhat inexcusable for a shopkeeper. Definitely a specific type of person would die for this sort of boutique. However, genuinely expensive homes that are decorated well probably would not have many of these tchotchkes that aren’t genuinely high end. It probably needs to re-envision its brand if it wants to be relevant over the next decade. Seems more like a passion project that will vanish when the owner retires.

This is always my first stop in Provincetown. Sometimes I feel like I come here on vacay JUST to come to this store. A beautiful, modern yet rustic, eccentric collection of all things. Don't miss it! Can you come decorate my NYC condo Yates & Kennedy?! ;)
