AWESOME store! We found such a wide variety of housewares and unique furnishings to complete our house! Also found the best “get-well” card for our friend who could not make it to P-Town.

I would like to send out a big "THANK YOU" to Michael. I purchased a beautiful cutting board last year but unfortunately, it was defective. He was gracious enough and provided me with an exchange of the same item. I am now providing our friends with a beautiful board for cheese, crackers and fruit. Again, gracious owner to handle this matter. I cannot thank you enough.

I write this review with mixed feelings. The first time I walked into Roots, I was amazed to see so many quality nice things for the home and garden inside the store. I loved the door knockers, candles, napkins, etc...all seemed so lovely and well displayed. But when I approached the counter where the register was, I saw the man working behind the counter...and I was about to ask him a question about one of the candles that I was looking to buy....but...he looked at me approaching and he turned his head and made a facial gesture...like....don't bother me.... I was so put off by this lack of customer empathy, I decided not to buy anything here. Such a pity, a place with such nice merchandise but with no similar nice customer service.

Very cute and quaint little shop with a nice variety of items. The owner was very friendly, we ended up chatting for a bit before checking out. Would reccomend.

Couldn’t agree more about the atrocious behavior I witnessed here. Have shopped here for years without incident. Today was awful. He yelled at a young customer for touching something in front of many people and seemed to think it was funny. Then told them to get out of the store. This was the worst behavior I have ever seen by a merchant here. Can’t believe he could be the owner, but we won’t be back.

So relieved and not surprised at all to read the negative reviews of this horrible man who scolded my 5 year old daughter for touching something in the store. Thankful that another customer called him out on being a rude a—-. There are a million other stores that carry similar things along the road with owners I’d rather support! Don’t bother stopping here but if you do, dont subject your kids to his nastiness

My experience was different than some of the other Yelp reviews I read. I was going into Roots no matter the reviews. Outside the store they had welcome mats made of dock line that a friend of mine had been eyeing. I convinced her that today was the day we should buy it. So we grabbed the mat and headed inside. It is a tight store full of lots of beachy themed novelties. As we were meandering our way through we passed by the register. I asked the man behind the counter if we could leave our items that we were definitely purchasing at the counter while we continued through the store. I would not say that he was overly friendly, but he also did not yell at me. He agreed that we could leave them there. While continuing to shop I found a couple of must haves. One was what I consider a beautiful piece. It was a whale made of pottery and then painted. I fell in love with it. I also found some great Christmas ornaments that I will give as gifts. Overall, I very much enjoyed my walk through the store and the items that I found. I would return. Maybe the owner / worker has softened throughout the years? Find out for yourself. And good luck!

Buyer beware; awful customer service. I purchased a necklace from this store last summer and it broke about a month later. Knowing I would return next season, I brought it with me and hoped for an exchange or store credit. The owner offered me nothing other than, “You should have called when it broke.” He was condescending and blamed me for the reason he was not offering any compensation. I’ve purchased many items in this store for years and as a result of this situation, won’t even go into this store again. Offering a gift certificate, or something, would have showed that he values customer service.

Recently (today) I took a walk down on Commercial St. in order to make an effort to shop locally. As I passed by Roots, I notice a Christmas tree in the window ( price tag and all ) it was passable in regard to what my husband and I may have been interested in for a room in our home but definitely not a must have. I waited patiently 6 feet apart from others In line. When it was my turn, I asked the person at the counter( I assume the same cranky old, get over yourself bald man that other reviewers are referring to. I began with "that tree in the window" his response, a rude, nasty, " It's not for sale. Me; "oh, it has a price tag on it" Cranky Old Bald Man; " Well it's not for sale". Me; can you tell me where you got it? Cranky Old Bald Man; "from a retailer who is no longer selling it. We're selling it next year". Oh, I get it. Lots of people have asked the same question. You need this to remain on display so I might look for it next year. Why didn't you just say that? I would have understood. Mr. Cranky Old Bald Man, I wouldn't buy a tree from you this year, next year or any other year. You sir are a Cranky Old Bald Man who needs to get over himself or pack it up...
