I received a favorable recommendation from an acquaintance to try the SHPR. My 1 year old Black Mouth Cur has spent a few days here and there at SHPR over the past few months leading up to a 10 day stay just now. She becomes excited on the way there, once we open the windows and she catches a scent of where she's headed, which is great since she is ordinarily quiet during car rides. She has always come home cheerful and healthy, including yesterday. The staff is warm and inviting and are positively communicative (as needed). They explain that they try to pair the dogs in a thoughtful way for play and one staff member brings their own dog in to play with mine since they get along so well. SHPR is also part of a veterinarian practice which you don't need to be part of, and if we didn't already have a fabulous vet who we adore, this would be the place we'd go for vet service. It's comforting to know that if there was an issue she'd have access to vet care. I might possibly stir up extra competition for available slots for me with my review but I feel it's only fair.

We have been very happy with our dogs staying here. Clean, friendly, accommodating and reasonably priced.

Refused to see my daughters cat who could have an eye infection! Told her to go to Latham which they did with a 10 hr wait! Had to go all the way back with a sick cat, pathetic vet service not recommended!

We won’t take our dog anywhere else but Shaker Hill. The staff is great, they really do a great job in the pet resort and the veterinarian hospital.

I wish there are 10 stars available for rating because this place deserves it. When my dog Simon got sick this place was the only one who saw him right away early morning despite of how busy they were. Everywhere else told me that I can bring him to NY. They were so empathetic. Especially big thanks to Doctor Reynolds who even called me to follow up the next few days. My dog is completely recovered. I know how busy they are but they make time for every pet. Totally recommended !

I feel so confident leaving my dog here; they take such excellent care of him and have a fenced in acre of yard for him to run around in. He doesn’t get along with other dogs and they always make sure he goes out on his owns Thank you for caring for him! I appreciate it so much!

Unfortunately I had to go there to let my baby go to rainbow ? bridge. They were so nice and gave us all the time we needed. My usual vet was closed but I am going to see about changing to this place.

I have an incredibly old cat (19) and she recently went on medication and needed to be boarded for my vacation. The shaker hill pet resort staff and Pittsfield vet staff were amazing. Firstly, they were very responsive when I called to check in and were happy to update me. Secondly their facilities are very clean and comfortable looking. Thirdly, my cat seems incredibly relaxed after her stay (which was a big concern of mine as she has never been away from her space for that long) she even watched as the staffer went back in at pickup. It’s clear they forged a nice bond. I can’t confirm that it is standard, but they definitely groomed her before she came home. She smells amazing and her fur is looking fantastic. Her nails are trimmed and her paws are clean. The price for the stay was very reasonable, I’d be willing to pay more for the amazing care they gave her. Whatever your financial situation, the peace of mind from having these amazing staffers take great care of your pet is priceless. She wasn’t even that excited to see us, which is a fantastic sign! It’s so nice that my kitty got to have a vacation while we did. If you’re hesitant to board because you have a weird or old animal, you can be confident in the quality of shaker hill pet resort.
