I went in today to look at some wind chimes that I thought sounded pleasant. When the store associate Jane asked if she could help me I held up one finger to indicate give me a moment and took out my phone to get out my AAC app as I cannot speak, I'm mute. I told her with the assistance of my AAC that "I cannot speak" "I'm using this device to speak" I began to type my inquiry to which Jane impatiently asked again " Can I help you?" I again held up one finger for her to give me a moment to which she replied "Oh no, you either buy something or leave." I looked at her well her blouse and erased my inquiry to type in the word rude as I turned to leave I typed in my AAC to say "Very Rude" and went to take care of something else. I went back to Ten Thousand Villages and went to the counter and beckoned the person at the register, they asked the same "Can I help you?" To which I walked up and used my AAC device to signify "I cannot speak and am using this device to communicate " to which Jane pipes in and I tell the Cashier using my AAC what occurred stated above to which he asks again "Can I help you?" To which I state I want Jane to apologize or I will petition a lawsuit against you. To which the Cashier states "Unfortunately it will have to be the latter" I loved going to this store, but this disgusting bit of discrimination against a disabled individual for using an AAC device and the clear impatience for getting a response from me telling me either I buy something or leave is pure disability discrimination and I will be contacting my attorney

Great gifts, staff super helpful. We go a couple of times a year and have never been disappointed. Love the quality and beauty of the merchandise.

We find the staff very helpful and well informed about the merchandise. They share what is new in stock and what is on clearance. Great place to shop for fair trade items and know that you are supporting the artisans to make a living.

I went to get two gifts for kids. Upon paying, $71.08:Cashier: do you want to round up the amount for the artisans?Me: Sure!Cashier: How much? $75Me: Hmm..., I was thinking of rounding up to the next dollar.Cashier: Oh..., well..., that's fine...Me: You are now making me feel guilty.Cashier: Oh..., there are several options. That's fine...Same cashier: "We do not have boxes or anything for gifts.Other cashier attending a costumer: "..., yeah, I can give you a box for a gift. Let me see what we have."(On all fairness, I got two sheets of red tissue paper, one per object.)I think I'll find my fair trade products elsewhere in the future. For the record, I don't have a problem with the products this store carries (I'm happy with what I found). I have a problem with condescension.

Lots of beautiful decorations and accessories made by countries and cities of lower economic status. Prices are higher given where they are sourcing it from but for a good cause. I recommend coming to check them out as it's perfect for gift giving!

This store nearly gave me a panic attack. Quiet browsing was absolutely not allowed by the staff who are apparently trained to talk as loudly as possible and not let customers look at the shelves for more than a moment at a time before repeatedly demanding to help them. I ended up leaving empty handed because I was sick of having to refuse unwanted help and just wanted to get the hell away from the aggressive sale people and my friend bought a necklace that broke 30 minutes later.

So many wonderful items here. Beautiful tablecloths and napkins, jewelry, great fair trade chocolates and hot chocolate, etc. Fun place to walk through and look at the items. All items for sale are made under Fair Trade conditions so artisans are paid living wages for their work.
