The Monro Auto Tire And Tire Centers in North Adams, Massachusetts is staffed with kind, caring, hardworking professionals who care about helping! This past Friday I employed their services after realizing the oil in my vehicle had dropped to a minimum level. My friends and I had planned a college reunion weekend in North Adams. I was driving from upstate NY along Rt. 2 when my vehicle’s computer registered low oil and that I needed a quart to replenish. Since I have a BMW I was nervous of where I would find the correct type of oil my SUV required. But when
I arrived in town, I noticed a Monro business. Knowing my dad has been a loyal customer for decades I stopped by to see if they could help! Not only did the wonderful staff soothe my jangled nerves they went out of their way to find the correct oil for my vehicle and replace it! Bill, Joe, Darcy and Mike are all angels! I can’t recommend them or Monro in North Adams, Massachusetts enough! They truly took a scared visitor and customer into their shop and hearts! And in addition, they charged me a very fair price for topping off my oil! Anyone needing auto care in North Adams can feel assured that they will be in competent and caring hands! This is a must go to business and one to remember - even if you’re just passing through town. They will take great care of you and treat you like family! The folks at Monro in North Adams helped me to have an amazing, worry free get together with my friends! Thanks dear Monro staff!

I'd avoided this place bc of local talk, but it was clearly outdated. Came here bc no where else did oil changes on Saturday, and they were awesome and quick. Asked them to diagnose some other issues, and they did it for no extra charge (another local shop wanted 120 to tell me what was wrong). Came back to fix the issues, and when it was worse than we thought and I didn't have the funds for the repair I needed that day, they fixed another minor issue for free and told me to schedule it for when I had the funds. They've been really kind to me and not charging a female new driver an arm and a leg bc I don't know better (something I expected from anywhere I take my car). I'll be taking my van here for maintenance and repairs as long as I stay in North adams.

Today I hit a curb and blew my tire! It's 4 PM on Saturday and I leave for vacation at 5AM Monday. I am beyond thankful for the staff at this Monro! Darcy found a good tire and in my budget. Joe and Mike worked on replacing my tire! They were very professional and got me in and out in less than 30 minutes! Thanks for making this a great experience!

Had to replace my battery but the shop didn't have the part. Instead of directing me elsewhere they let me come with a battery I bought elsewhere and they installed it for free!

Easy. Nice people. Oil change. Came in at 8:30 and was out by 9 ish. Had time to catch up on emails. I’ll go back.
4 months later. Different car. Needed exhaust /muffler work. They had to order it. In the meantime AJ (rockstar) used materials in the shop and sent me on my way fixed until the new one comes in Monday. They went out of their way to help. Thank you!

UPDATE: Pete has left and this shop is no longer recommended. Poor service and knowledgeable of new staff is questionable. Get Pete back!
These are good peoples! Pete (manager) and Doug (front desk) have been helpful every time I've come in. Most recently, they helped me get my wheel lock bolts off the car.
I came in with my wheel lock key that had been rounded off, such that no socket could grip it. Pete went into the garage and came out with a set of nut removers. He was able to get all 4 of my wheel lock bolts off the car for me right there!
They care about their customers and it shows. I recommend them!

I am not sure of the gentleman’s name who assisted us but when we tore the sidewall to our tire coming down Greylock, Monro was the only shop open on Sunday nearby and he was quick and incredibly generous to get our car two new tires and back on the road ASAP. With two young kids and a dog I was both relieved and impressed with his manner and speed of service, and his assistance averted what could have been a catastrophe for us. Well done to this young man, get him a raise.

Great people, personal service, talented technicians, very friendly place. Price quoted was the price paid; time estimate was accurate. A very positive experience. Highly recommended.

Monro North Adams damaged my car by improperly installing a wheel bearing. I was promised a refund for the "service" by the district manager but he never issued it. This store can't keep employees / mechanics for longer than a week. Corporate won't answer voicemails or messages - next stop small claims court. Stay FAR AWAY.

I'm a little late with this review, but wanted to give these guys a well earned shout out. Last year year my girlfriend and I were driving out to north Adams for memorial day weekend when the alternator light on her mazda turned on, and the car screen started displaying a warning about imminent power loss. Being a holiday weekend, all of the mechanics on the way out were already closed, and this shop was the only one we could get a hold of.
I've unfortunately forgotten the name the mechanic we worked with, but when we got in touch, we were still more than an hour away, and he advised that if the alternator had indeed died, we likely wouldn't make it out there, but if we did, he would be happy to take a look at it. So we turned off the radio and AC, and white knuckled our way down the Mohawk trail.
Ultimately, we made it, he rolled out the shop with a multimeter in hand, popped the hood and checked that there was amperage coming from the alternator. Then hooked up a computer to do a quick diagnostic, turned the car off and back on and told us it looked like it had been a glitch with the cars computer, but he would order a replacement for us at no charge just in case we had any further issues that weekend.
I can only assume many shops would jump at the opportunity to up charge out of towners concerned their vehicle might not make it back home. So dealing with someone who was both informative and honest was a blessing, and I was happy to compensate him for helping us despite him trying to politely turn my money away.
Put simply, if I was a local. I would be a lifelong customer of this shop after that experience.
We didn't have any more problems that weekend, and that alternator ended up lasting around another 10 months before we got it replaced before taking some more road trips this yes.

After an oil change, I was told my rear brakes were "really bad" and should be replaced. Also the front pads. Also had a brake light out. They said it had to be replaced, would have to take off a panel and they didn't have the part.
Made an appt. for the next weekend. A different manager couldn't find any details on reason for the appt. He looked at brakes and tail light.
The brakes were at 50% and didn't need to be replaced. Front brake pads were also OK.
Tail light was corroded. He cleaned it off. Now it works.
They're very friendly there, but I won't return after this. No idea if this was deliberate or they just didn't know any better. Either way, I'll find a local garage.

I requested 3 services that did not include an oil change, but got an oil change and tire rotation without my consent, and then they did not close the oil fill port, leading to my engine bay now being covered in oil and they also did not fully close my hood.

Horrible experience these guys screwed me out of $80 for an oil change and didn’t even have the decency to torque the drain plug.

Daniel and Anthony went out of their way to help me out and get my 2017 GMC Terrain fixed. I can’t be happier with the service I received. Thank you is not enough. ?
