Boris' shop is like an episode of Hoarders mixed with a washed-up electrician who somehow hasn't burned the building to the ground. Avoid at all costs

Our office purchased a Sony radio in 1985. Over the years it served us well for almost 40 years but, like all of us it started to age. Harder to find stations disappeared, static on some and sometimes just shutting itself off. Looking around nothing stood up to the Sony that seemed well built. We looked into West Suburban...which was slightly scary at first glance. In discussing the problems and the brand with Boris, he reassured us about the reliability of the brand and perhaps simplicity of the repair, gave us an idea of price and timing. Within a week he called explained the work had been simple - switches and cleaning, the cost reasonable. Once back in the office it's working just like 1986. We have another we'll be sending over shortly.

I had the pleasure of visiting West Suburban Electronics in Newton, MA, and I must say that Boris, the proprietor, is an exceptional electronics repair technician. In a world where electronics are often treated as disposable, it's truly refreshing to find someone who sees the value in repairing what's repairable. Boris's dedication to his craft goes beyond mere technical expertise - he finds beauty and worthiness in restoring electronics to their optimal functionality. If you're looking for a place to entrust your electronics repairs, I can confidently say that West Suburban Electronics and Boris are the right choice. His expertise, care, and dedication make this establishment a truly great place to take your equipment.

ZERO STARS!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR EQUIPMENT HERE!!! QSC told me that this was an authorized shop to fix my QSC K12.2. Called first to make sure that it was open and that he would accept it. Guy was unsure of the hours or if he would be there which was weird. Since QSC said they are authorized, I brought my speaker anyways because I needed it fixed. A month passed and I called to ask for an update of how things were going. He mentioned he did not touch it yet in a very rude way. I called QSC and they said I could just ship it out to them myself and that they didn’t understand why he did not even touch it. When I went to go pick it up he was mad at me but he didn’t even do anything about it. He was trying to have me buy something random at that place. The guy was extremely unprofessional and rude. His store was a mess with a whole bunch of junk everywhere that felt unsafe to even walk in there. If anything was to ever fall you would be in danger of getting hurt. Please do yourself a favor and find a different place. This place does not deserve to be a QSC authorized store.

This business is shady, the store is a safety hazard and the owner is a questionable character.I needed to repair my amplifier and NAD indicated this colossal disgrace as an authorized Service Center. They shall hear from me soon. There isn't a website, of course. Red flag one. I contacted the owner via email and asked him to confirm his address and business hours. He provided the information but asked me to call first because he might not be at the store. You know, like a business. Red flag two.The store itself is a health and safety hazard, with rows of piled up electronic items. Red flag three. In retrospect, I should have left an Ariadne thread to make sure we could find our way back. After the "how do you dos" and "nice to meet yous", he straight up asked me and my wife "while you're at the store, wanna buy something?" (sic). Red flag four. Incidentally, do not buy anything. The place is a veritable Jenga. One displaced CD player and the whole thing could collapse. After I handed him the amplifier and filled a receipt, he said "and now I want money from you" (sic). Red flag five. I should have left immediately, but didn't and gave him my credit card instead. He informs me "no cards, just cash or check". Red flag six. I explained I haven't carried cash for a few years, which prompted red flag seven and the most bizarre moment of the whole interchange. He said "I told you this over the phone but you already hung up" (sic). You know what, this has to count as two red flags. So, eight.I told him I would come the following Monday with his cash but ended up changing my mind and told him via email not to touch the amplifier.Overall, I wasted 3 afternoons and around $80 between Ubers and Zipcar, to end up where I started.

Let me just start my saying this business WAS highly recommended by a good friend so I felt confident in giving my business. Sadly I was wrong, took FOREVER & A DAY TO GET A WAFFLING ANSWER about IF it could be fixed, ok I get it, until you in you don't know, takes a deposit to take a look and then DIDNT RETURN THE DEPOSIT when I refused to let him figure it out with no cap on the amount it would take to fix it, sorry but I'm not gonna say ya open it up & charge whatever you want by the end, I could just go buy a new one for just a little bit more, nope alset. BUT TO KEEP MY WHOLE $100. to "look" @ it & n9t guarantee the work. Never again.

West Suburban has been my go-to keyboard/amp repair shop for years. Most recently, when my most-critical piece of gear was damaged in a moving accident, Boris not only put my mind at ease by doing great work but also understood how important the repair was and did his best to complete it quickly. A+ work!!!

I have been using West Suburban Electronics for over 15 years. Every time I break something electronical or need computer repair I think of the owner Boris and use his services for repair. Boris is an engineer and he is very smart and professional. When I think maybe a job it too difficult and can't be done Boris more times than not figures out a way to make the repair. He has a wonderful analytical mind and really is a whiz at fixing computers and electronics. I highly recommend Boris of West Suburban Electronics as he is very capable and nice.

A while back I brought an Ampeg SVT-7 PRO to this gentleman for a repair. I had brought an old Acoustic 360 to another electronic repairman across town who said this West Suburban shop was better at these Ampeg units for some arcane reason. So I brought it over. The storefront had a distinctly & uniquely eclectic appearance. The owner was polite and cautiously optimistic about the outcome. I had purchased the amp sight unseen from Goodwill auction. It was not working and cheap enough to gamble. After a couple of weeks in the shop I got the call that the amp was ready. There was nothing remarkable about the experience to tell. It was repaired satisfactorily, I'm still using it some years later. The repair man was pleasant enough and charged a reasonable amount for the work. I'm happy with the outcome and would not hesitate to bring additional items for repair.

Stay away. I brought my amplifier in to be fixed. The owner said he wouldn't work on it without being paid in advance. I left it and was to return with a check for the diagnostic. I called to pick it up to take it elsewhere and he had hurriedly taken it apart after my call. When I got it to a reputable repair place, they said he had burned out the circuitry, and almost ruined it entirely.
