I arrived later in the day with a valid I’d and was turned away on cashing a check because they didn’t want to the paperwork and put me into there system ridiculous the young lady I was dealing with had the attitude of someone who just didn’t wNt to deal with it I would never open an account It looks as if there goongninder anyways

Best bank ever!! I love them theyre so nice and accessible and they really treat you as a valued customer. I feel like I know them and even if I didn't they would still treat me with friendliness, courtesy, and a genuine desire to help me with whatever I need. It's so nice to just be able to call them up and ask questions. Also their card system is great they pay you back your ATM fees since theyre such a small bank.

Hours changed without being notified, due to "short staffing" but people inside standing around laughing having a great time. 2nd time in a year they've changed hours without notifying. Some people don't have the ability to be there before you close for the day at 3pm. Bad customer service.

The Nonantum branch went from 5 stars to 1 stars now that Laura the manager has left!! Thank god Tina and Rosa are still there they are great!!!

I have been a customer of the Bank for 40 years and have been extremely happy with the service we have received over the years. I use them for my business and personal accounts and also for our mortgages. They will always go the extra mile to help you out. The Village Bank gives you the personal service that will never happen at a large corporate bank. They generously give back to the Newton community in the form of scholarships, contributing to community events and local schools. I feel lucky to have them in the neighborhood!

I have been a customer of Village Bank for over 40 years. I have had multiple accounts with them including multiple Mortgages that we never paid late and paid off . I have been a customer of Village Bank for over 40 years. I have had multiple accounts with them including multiple Mortgages that we never paid late and paid off . The last mortgage Village Bank held for us was paid off this past July. Up to now I would recommend them as the best bank around till the past couple of days. As of right at this moment as I write this review I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. My husband and I grew up in Newton, lived in Newton, and were treated as valued customers. My husband works for the City of Newton and we have remained loyal customers to them. Village Bank was and is the only Bank we recommend to our family and friends till now unless they redeem themselves fast. Their reasoning and treatment is in acceptable. I began an on line application for a home equity loan and the information, treatment and contact with their loan department since I started the application has left me dumbfounded and scratching my head. It all started with Joan who called me with regards to my on line application who relayed the very disturbing information that they will not consider processing my loan. She sought permission and approval to process my simple loan from the vise president and I believe it was Denise who ultimately decided against processing my loan request. The reason why is outrageous. I was legitimately outraged, mad, upset and discriminated against. What I learned from her was horrifying. Village Bank has held loans from us in the past and it didn't make sense to us why they wouldn't even consider our application. I asked Joan to have Denise, another VP or President to call me to explain their reasoning of not processing my loan further and to attempt to get them to reconsider. I called today and I left a message with Denise who I was told was in a meeting and that she would call me by the end of the Day and that didn't happen. All I wanted was to be treated like a valued customer as their message says while you wait on hold. At 2pm today I called back after not hearing from Denise and spoke to a great guy Ed today who will hopefully get me in contact with Joe to resolve the awful treatment I have received thus far. Denise had left for the day! So not only was I not treated like a valued customer I was also not worthy of a call back. Time will tell if Village Bank will stand by their so called valued words and customers. Let's see if redeem themselves. Sincerely from a once valued customer!

Oh the Village Bank, you will always hold a small piece of my heart. In what I hope will not become a dying breed in competition with mega banks, the Village Bank is a reminder of what banking used to be, and what should be. Involvement at almost every Newton community event. Superior service provided by managers such as Slater. And of course, the overflowing basket of complimentary lollipops that you wouldn't ever buy, but find yourself sticking a few extra in your pocket. The Village Bank may not have the most amount of locations or services, but they excel what they do provide. No bank will know you on a more personal level and no bank will provide superior service. 10/10 would bank again :)

Best bank in Boston in our opinion! Yes, they answer the phone with someone that can actually solve a problem! It has always been a genuinely nice experience to do business with them for the last five years we've done business with them. Remarkable difference to the large box banks that always seem understaffed and just don't seem to care!

Great people, friendly, but the online banking experience is very much subpar, mired in the 2000s, not fully up to date. The mechanism for downloading statements is very poor and there are issues with Google Chrome. These don't seem to get resolved very quickly, despite numerous email notices to the customer care center team. The last couple of months in order to download a statement I have to make a specific email. Again the staff is helpful, but this shouldn't have to be the case. We need and expect immediacy, 2017.

We've been using the Auburndale Branch of Village Bank for years and find the people to be helpful, responsive and knowledgeable. If they don't know something, they'll get back to you. We also love the bank's on-going generous community support. So glad to still have an independent community bank here!
