Never been here before. I needed my dress altered last minute for an event. I called this place 10 minutes before closing and Katya answered and told me to bring it in and she will get it done. Great location. I hopped on my scooter and took a ride over there. She waited for me to arrive (5 minutes before she closed) and allowed me to try on the dress and took my measurements. She was quick and efficient and extremely knowledgeable! I left after closing hours and the price was fine considering my request. I called 3 hours before pick up time and it was already done! My husband went and picked the dress up for me and said he was in and out. My dress fit like a glove! Perfect! I received so many compliments on my dress and felt like queen I am in it! I will definitely return here. Other reviews stated Katya is rude. But this Women means business. She is amazing.I got what I asked and paid for and I’m completely satisfied!

Katja is an excellent tailor. I highly recommend her. I've been to many tailors in and around the Boston area and Katja is the best. She knows clothes, pattern cutting, and fabrics and can both make clothes from scratch and alter clothing. Katja made and/or adjusted virtually all of the outfits my mom and I wore for my wedding and they all came out beautifully and made us feel and look just as we wanted on this special weekend. For my mom, Katja adjusted my grandmother's navy silk skirt from the 1950s to fit my mom and made a top from silk from a silk fabric she helped my mom select. She also made a pink/gray tunic, scarf, and pant ensemble from scratch from fabric my mom brought her. For me, she made me a beautiful silk shirt to accompany pants I'd bought and helped me select the fabric, color, and pattern. She also made last minute adjustments to the waist, arms, and bust on two wedding dresses I wore that weekend (one for City Hall and one for the wedding). Katja is straightforward and knowledgeable and accommodating and I trust her completely to make and adjust my clothes! I can't thank her enough for all her time and help leading up to the wedding!

I had heard Newtonville Tailor was reasonably priced. Not true. The reviews also mentioned that the woman was rude. Very true. Bordering on contempt. I stopped in a little early before official opening just to pick up a jacket she had altered. She let me in, but glared at me, referred me to the hours of operation on the door, and suggested I take a picture of it so I don't make the mistake again.Not to worry, I won't.The quality of her work was fine, but I just don't need to put up with that treatment.

Kayta is a masterful tailor and a seamstress of the old school. She can do anything, and has for me over nearly 10 years. She impressed me with successful surgery on suit jackets and complicate LTD trouser alterations -- things others wouldn't bother with. She is a sartorial lifesaver. You want her in your corner. I have been going so long she has taken clothing in and back out again. And saw her own handiwork!And my partner can confirm Kayta is a pro for dresses, gowns and eveningwear. Honestly, that kind of tailoring is ten times more intricate than suits and shirts. Bring cash, and call if you need. You won't regret it.

lady is EXTREMELY rude for no reason. plus very overpriced. go to perfect fit tailors and cleaners instead - 5 mins away half the price and kind customer service. fixed my zipper for 15 instead of 25. ill never take my business to such a disrespectful place.

Have had great experiences here. I've worked with her a lot as I need to get most of my pants hemmed and also occasional alterations on dresses. Always done promptly, at reasonable prices. The owner has always been polite and professional so I'm not sure what the other reviews are saying.

I called to ask if I could bring a simple dress in to be fitted, and the woman just responded, "No." and hung up on me! I called back thinking there was a mistake and the line maybe got disconnected, but she very impatiently told me, "no, I already told you no." And hung up again. I was shocked at how rude and unprofessional this place was and will avoid it in the future.

Brought clothes to be mended but the woman was extremely rude and had very unprofessional manners--so bad that I did not want to give her any business. Would not recommend, especially since there are plenty of other great, capable tailors around.

I have been bringing my clothes to Katya for 20 years. She is a true tailor, and can make changes and improvements for items ranging from bathing suits to wool coats. Katya has made dresses for me, and has tailored jackets for my husband as well. Her work is always completed on time, and I would never take my clothes anywhere else.

She (and her mother when she was alive) have always done beautiful work for me. Fair prices and ready quickly. They even worked on vintage doll clothes for me. Travel there from Maine now.
