Customer service and checkout system was meh. Cashier tried my debit card and said “I can’t take debit card, our systems are down”. Then, he proceeded to take my girlfriends debit card no problem (Just filled up gas with my debit. Nothing wrong.). Even though it feels like a warm and homey music store, you’d have better service at the guitar center on mass Ave

Called to rent a viola and was told that everything was included (bow, shoulder rest, rosin). After traveling 30 mins to get there, the guy was extremely dismissive and claimed that he never said the shoulder rest was included, and told me I had to buy one for $20-$30. I’m pretty sure he was trying to rip me off, while being terribly rude about it. I wish 0 stars was an option based on how I was treated by the guy on staff. Horrible customer service, do not go here!!!!

I went to the Newton Centre store to have my acoustic guitar strings replaced. They sold me ELIXIR strings, the top brand, for $17.00, and the stringing was $25.00. I would have done it myself, but they did it within a few hours. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they don't act as if they are the only game in town, even though they are. I would definitely recommend them. by the way, their prices for guitars are very low, and they have a decent selection.

Met them at instrument night at my daughters school (on a Thursday), there were 2 businesses there and I went with them because they told me they had her instrument IN HAND and I could take it home that night. I checked out on my phone and presented them with my paid confirmation and they told me they would get the viola. 20 mins later they told me they did not have one but the store did and I could call when I left and go to the store in Newton and pick it up. On the way home I called the store in the Newton and the lady on the phone told me they had it but I could not do that and the people at the Middle School was an in between person and that is not how it worked and I would need to wait until Tuesday for it to be delivered to the school. My daughter was VERY upset but had no choice but to wait until Tuesday. Tuesday during the day her class was called down to the office and her friend got her instrument but my daughters was not delivered. She left school crying that day so I called again to check to see what the issue was because now it was 2 times I was promised and it was not followed through with on their end. I called and spoke to the same lady as prior and she told me they did not have that size viola and they could not locate one and had no ETA for it. I told her that was unacceptable and I would be calling another store if you could not fulfil my contract. She told me to call the other store and I could cancel the order with them. I found a viola and grabbed it that same day and proceeded to call the store 3 times and left messages and twice emailed through the contact us on the website. On Friday my daughter told me she was called to the office to pick up her viola but it was no longer needed as we already got one for her. I now need to cancel my order but no one will respond and I have no way of doing so.

This place is a go to for musical instruments, musical, scores, etc.They have a nice variety of popular classical technical exercise books.Great for music teachers!

Great place to buy a violin. I got my full sized violin from here and it was a great experience! My last violin that i got from here was a rental but now I was buying a violin. Joseph gave me many different violins to try and tuned them all for me. I took my time choosing and found the perfect violin for me out of all of the beautiful violins. Joseph was very nice and he let me do my own thing and take my time trying out all of them. I recommend coming here :)

I'm an adult learner trying to play a musical instrument after a few decades of not playing anything. All the staff have been incredibly kind and patient with me, as I've tried various instruments to find the right one to suit my needs. The paperwork is all very straightforward and they could not have been more helpful. The instrument rental contract is fair, not locking me in for a huge amount of time, and allowing me to cancel as long as I do so before the next rental payment date. I also had my son's old electric guitar repaired there. It has some knobs missing and it looked like it had gone through the wringer. They did the job much more swiftly than I imagined and when it was returned it was beautiful as ifwe had a brand new guitar. When I have shown up a little bit late to a lesson they have been very patient and the quality of music tuition is excellent. I had some guitar lessons from a graduate of Berkeley college of music. Allthe team provide excellent customer service and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend music and arts at Newton center.

They rented us a French horn that was out of tune (improperly aligned valve). I don't know how to play, so I didn't know; by the time my son's teacher figured it out, we'd wasted not only the money on her lesson, showing up with an unplayable instrument, but two weeks with this thing. I drove back and returned it - but they can't just give you a refund, even though they rented you a faulty instrument. You have to call customer service and spend time on hold. I did that. I was told I could get a refund for the $118 I'd already paid. But two weeks later, my card still wasn't refunded. I called back. Time on hold. The rep said my refund request was DENIED because more than 7 days had passed since renting. I now have to escalate this issue, since it's not actually legal to swindle parents. Go to Leonard's Music in Bedford instead. They are able to rent you a functioning instrument. And they are nice about it!

Great place for band rentals. We have had to visit twice for various accessories and music books, and they have always had what we needed. Very in-tune with the requests from the local schools, which I appreciate!

Opinion: Well, without the seasoned, service oriented employees who treated each customer like a friend, what do you expect. Hire Tom Allman back and see how fast things turn around.

Terrible experience on two occasions with Joe Raia the manager along with staff. On the first occasion my 9 year old son was brought for his 1st ever guitar lesson. On arrival we find out the tutor was not there. Joe did not know where he was. He then explained the tutor must’ve thought it was a holiday (Columbus Day) but we were never notified. Joe did not apologize nor seem remorseful just stated we would be reimbursed. Today my son was taken by my nanny who dropped off my son at the store. He sat waiting but the tutor was not there due to an illness. The team at the store including Joe, let my 9 year old son just sit in the store for 30 minutes. I arrived and asked why didn’t they call to let us know. Joe then proceeded to blame me as they had left a VM earlier which I never received. No apologies to me and no apologies to my son. Horrendous and shameful experience. Do NOT go here.
