Why pay less? As a collector of wine, I can promise that there are many, many other places to purchase wine much cheaper.
I stop in occasionally just to look around and and perhaps purchase a bottle or two. Always amazed at the markup.

First time at Marty's. The selection was great, the prices are good the woman at the sandwich counter was great but the checkout guy was a wreck. If I am spending $250 dollars, I don't need to be scolded (as if I am a three year old) for touching the stuff on the checkout counter before it's been bagged. It's rude and weird and completely rubbed me the wrong way. I will have to think hard about returning.

Bought 4 bottles of cru Beaujolais - a couple at a ridiculous markup compared to my local bottle shop. But I ate it because I love the producer - ALL 4 were spoiled. Came out practically sparkling, notes of burnt tire and litter box. So so disappointed.

I saw pastrami sandwich mentioned in reviews. Visited store for first time as always thought it was only a beer, wine , liquor store. Well Italian specialties, and other specialties you can't find elsewhere... very impressive selections... Then wine, beer great selections. Then a deli with fresh sandwiches and cooked foods? I ordered the Brooklyn Pastrami hot sandwich on dark rye and was excellent hot version .... More pastrami would be better.. I think a cold version might have been better Melted cheese too... Cole slaw had nice taste with sandwich. Pickle was a good deli one and not a jar one... other sandwiches look good too... deli person very accommodating with bread options, etc.

Did you know that the sandwich and deli counter at Marty's in Newton is amazing!? Every time I have a business meeting in Newton, I detour to Marty's for a delicious Turkey/Swiss on sourdough. SO GOOD! Great prepared foods section as well, and of course, there is a huge variety of beverages at the store.

Fantastic selection of liquors, wines, beer, and even obscure liqueurs that are hard to find elsewhere. Staff is always friendly and polite. Food/snacks look nice too, though a bit pricy.

Oddly enough, I mostly frequent this place for the deli and specialty foods section.They do have a sizable selection for beer and liquor, but prices are often higher than Blanchards over in Allston. With Martignetti's closed (for a while now) this is the most convenient large liquor store nearby as Gordon's is even more expensive and Wegman's is a bit too far over in Chestnut Hill.Their specialty food section is fantastic though. You can purchase duck breast, an assortment of different fresh, grass fed beef, wagyu burger patties, and more. I often get a variety of those as well as their canned escargot, which I whip up with some pesto and eat with a sliced (and toasted) baguette.Their deli counter is equally amazing and you can purchase freshly grilled wagyu burgers for $9.99. You can also get a lobster roll for $19.99, which comes full of lobster meat.Definitely recommend.
