I went into the branch to get quarters for the parking meter out front. I handed the cashier four singles and asked for quarters. He asked if I had an account. I said no. He said they only make change for people with an account. I took my money back and left. Great community bank you have.

I opened 4 accounts at Eastern Bank Auburndale Branch. At the ti me and the following years the branch manager was extremely courteous, warm and friendly. The staff there were also nice and friendly. I fell welcome and was happy doing business there. Six years ago I added one secondary signer to a business account. The paper work was done at the branch manager's office. After a few years I began to go to the Newton Center branch because it was close to my home. I went in there very often to deposit checks. The branch manager saw meevery time but never even nodded to me. One time a teller said that she would introduce me to the branch manager. I said it was not necessary.Recently when I went to deposit a check and take a small amount of cash from that business account I was told that I was not an authorized signer, only the person I added as a secondary signer was. I went to discuss the situation with the branch manager. He said when the other person became the signer I was removed. He said I did not sign on the proper spot on the document so I was not a signer any more. His attitude made me feel like a criminal. In fact, I did not do anything wrong. I signed the document at the spot where the other branch manager told me to sign. In the past six years everything was fine. How and why all of a sudden I was not an authorized signer? The bank froze my account. The secondary signer signed a check and deposited it into another bank. That check was bounced. That bank charged a fee for that. I am sure Eastern Bank will also charge me a fee.

My husband has a bit of damage to the left side of his brain, due to a virus he had 4 years ago. I try to have him do some things on his own as I stand in the back to help if needed. Well, today we went into Century bank on Langley Rd. ,Newton Center & I showed him where to stand in line,as there was already a customer at the counter. My husband was very patiently waiting his turn, when the older male teller stopped what he was doing with the first customer & leaned over & asked my husband what he wanted ( it was said in a very rude way). My husband said , I'd like 4 rolls of pennies to which the rude teller responded, very rudely again, "We Don't Have Any". So I stepped in from the sidelines & said , you don't have any ?? NO was the answer!!!!! There was not one other customer in the bank, so it's not like there was a line of customers waiting & only one teller. It was only us. needless to say we left& I am very angry about the way he acted towards us. Some people like him should not work with the public, put him in a back room somewhere or better yet maybe it's time to retire ! " No pennies " It's a Bank!! PS; the young man holding the door was so pleasant, put him in the teller position

Excellent customer service. Sparkling clean. Branch is conveniently located in the heart of Newton Centre, right down the block from Walgreens, and across from the large triangular parking lot.

One of 14 or 15 banks that you can choose from in Newton Center. I happen to do my banking here, so they have been good for me.
