For the second year in a row we had a great experience leasing our kids' ski equipment at Boston Ski and Tennis. We took three of our kids to be fitted and were in and out with our equipment less than 20 minutes. I appreciate that the employees doing the fitting didn't try to pressure my kids into skiing in boots that have that super tight performance fit. They have all skied a lot and know how they like them to feel, even if it isn't the "right" performance fit. I have no interest in paying for their passes only to listen to how much their feet hurt. I also have to say that the rentals at BST are wayyyy nicer than the other rental shop we used to go to and 10x better than any mountain. Especially the boots. I also love that they got fitted and we walked out of there with their equipment same day. So quick and easy!

Don’t ever come to this store for tennis racket restringing! I got it restrung here a few weeks ago and told them to use the same string as previously used. The string quality was extremely bad. The strings broke in less than two weeks! I brought it to the store and asked for a reason. The staff denied and claimed that it was caused by my daughter’s improved skills. She is a 5’4 kid, not even professional players could snap their racket strings in 10 days. This is ridiculous since the one Boston ski and tennis claimed was the same, ended up looking worse than the previous she used for an entire year. This store just wanted to make money and push the blame to customers. Never take your racket to Boston ski and tennis.

Patrick hooked my 9 year old son up who wears an orthotic on one foot with tennis shoes that fit his orthotic-- was super patient and friendly w/kids. The Needham Street location always takes care of our family's tennis and skiing needs, including annual rentals-- thank you!

I'm sad to give Boston Ski and Tennis a poor review because I think the store does a lot of things well and I had good interactions with the employees at the desk, but I've had such a headache dealing with them recently that I can't avoid it...
My girlfriend is new to tennis and I wanted to find her a racket that would fit her swing and be reasonable for a tennis newcomer. We paid to do a trial that would let us test different rackets as we were told we could use the credit from this purchase toward any new racket that we liked from the trial. Unfortunately two problems developed.. 1) they told us that there would be size 1 grips available in the future, which was not the case over 3 different trips we made to try new rackets and 2) they did not mention to us the first day that the credit only applied to new rackets, which are all over $200+, very steep for a new player.
We asked for a refund since we were never able to try any grip that would fit my girlfriends hand despite being told that size 1s would be available. We appreciated that we were offered a store credit by the manager, but this was fairly useless since we had no racket that fit to buy. The manager said he would get back to me about a refund but has ghosted me for the past month despite me following up with the store. I also found the way he spoke over the phone to also be rather disrespectful, which included speaking down to me and insinuating that I reserved a tennis racket with a 1 grip that he had on site (that we never were contacted about and was never there over the 3 trips we made??).

I got a seasonal rental for boots with my own skis. When I got the boots I told the people working at the store that I have my own skis and I needed them tuned. They implied that tuning would be covered or discounted under my seasonal rental.
Again when I had to actually get my skis tuned they asked if I had a rental and then didn’t say that it would cost me full MSRP to get my skis tuned. When I went to the store all of sudden I had to pay $130 to get my skis tuned.
On top of this they never sent a notification to me to let me know my skis were done. I had to keep calling them.
I’d recommend people to ask a bunch of questions (even if the lady on the phone is always in a hurry to hang up). Otherwise you’ll have to do trips to newton for no good reason.

This isn’t about the people at the ski shop. They are so nice and helpful. If you need to exchange any gear, they’ll help you quickly.
When I got my skis from here, I trusted that my bindings were correct because they are so renowned. The first time I took them skiing, I realized the boots could not click into the bindings. The bindings were almost two inches larger than my boot. I can understand that this mistake most likely happened because my friend who also got their boots fitted had their boots processed with mine and there was a mixup.
I notified the business and they informed me that there was no way that they were responsible and it had to have been me who have messed up the bindings. They helped me fix it. It’s an honest mistake, but just own up to it. It’s also incredibly annoying since I live in Boston and would have to drive to Newton every time to get any issue fixed. Because of their mistake, I probably spent more money in rentals than the cost of the season rental.
Additionally, the people who answer the phone and work the front desk, especially the older blonde lady with bangs, are so rude. I felt like I was talked down to as if I were a child.

I worked with Shaun to modify boots I bought two years ago at another shop, and I regret not coming to Boston Ski and Tennis earlier. The boot fit session I got here went more in-depth than any fit appointment I’ve ever been to. I will be coming here for boot modification work in the future.

I sprained my ankle and it took me 2 years to get back out there. Couldn't find a boot that would work for me until I went to the Newton Boston Ski and Tennis location and met with Sean. He really took the time to listen and figure out which parts of the foot my old boot was hurting me, and customized the fit to ensure I wouldn't suffer from the pain anymore. Anyone who skis knows how much of a struggle ski boots can be, but putting in the time to meet with Sean really changed the game for me, as I finally found a boot that doesn't cause me any pain when I'm on the slopes. I couldn't be more appreciative of Sean and the Newton Boston Ski and Tennis store. Thank you for everything

Boston Ski & Tennis is such a wonderful store! First off, and probably most importantly, their staff is amazing. Everybody we encountered was friendly, patient, knowledgable and understanding. They took the time to answer all of my questions -- and I had a ton -- and never made me feel like I was an inconvience or was taking too much of their time. The store also had so much cool gear in stock that it was actually hard to make choices (so we bought multiples!). I'm so excited to have found such a ski gem in Metrowest Boston. Kudos to the owners. This happy customer will return soon!

Absolutely awful experience getting my tennis racket strung here. This was my second time and it was just as bad as the first. The racket came back with a paint chip and they completely messed up the string tension. It's clear a bunch of amateurs are handling the job here. Avoid at all costs! My racket was in pristine condition before these kids got their hands on it!
UPDATE after owner, response:
There was no inspection. He just said quickly, it probably didn't happen here!
I need to emphesize that this has happened for the second time. I always double-check my rackets before and after games. I am 100% sure this has happened there and not one time. Exactly TWO times.
Plus, I requested 61 lbs tension for both racquets. However, one of them is strong at 57 lbs, and the other is at 58 lbs. This also has happend there for the second time!
Those kids there don't take their jobs seriously, playing and laughing while handling expensive racquets. I will never return there!

Horrible customer service. Needed new bindings mounted for an international ski trip, skis were supposed to be done on Wednesday. I called twice to confirm, and both times they said they couldn't confirm and would have to call me back, but I never got a call back. Finally went on Friday to pick them up and they weren't done yet! This on top of multiple interactions with their team where they have been rude and unhelpful. Avoid at all costs -- go anywhere else you can for your ski needs.

My son and I went in with a pair of skis we were almost sure he had destroyed. The front tip was basically cracked in half. Any other ski shop would have tossed them in the dumpster. Not BST! They put their best tech, Matty, on the job. One week later, good as new! Not sure how he pulled that rabbit out of a hat. But Matty/BST just saved us $750! Love this place and highly recommend them for all your family ski needs.

My family has been going to Boston Ski & Tennis for years. I bought my boots and skis from them and my children rent their gear every year. Most recently I had Ryan work on my boots to fix some issues I was having after a season of skiing in them. He was super knowledgeable, professional, and perfected the customization. I would 100% recommend custom boot purchases/fittings with him.
