When my friend and I entered this shop this afternoon, two women (one whom I’m assuming was a sales clerk and one who appeared to be a customer) acknowledged us and continued their conversation.
My friend and I stood aside, in their line of sight, waiting our turn for assistance.
When that didn’t happen after several minutes, we just decided to leave the store.
That’s when the sales person said something to the effect of “Oh, I’m sorry. We’ve just been chatting. Is there something you needed help with?”
Seriously?
A beautiful afternoon in Newburyport and we decided to stand around, inside your shop.
I’m hoping it’s not because of some racial or age bias.
But I’m not optimistic.

I have been a customer for years and have ordered sofas, chairs and carpets as well as bought decor from Kerry the owner. The upholstery is of a high quality at a great price point for American hand-made furniture.I prefer to spend more upfront for a quality piece and reupholster when I change my decor rather than buy poorly made pieces held together with a couple of screws that will end up in a landfill in a few years.Also, Kerry and all of her staff are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful and always willing to spend the the time with you for design questions. I highly recommend Red Bird and their sister store Wish Basket for an amazing shopping experience and professional advice and really well made furniture.

Although I hadn't planned going into this store since not looking for any furniture what caught my eye was the racks of greeting cards. I really like being able to find cards that are unique & somewhat local instead of CVS, target type places. I spent more time in this store than I should've but bought several birthday cards that were pretty neat. Many of them were either made from recycled materials or had soy free ink, not the usual Hallmark crap. The store is a decent size & they have other random household items that they sell here. Yeah come in & take a gander, you never know what might find.
