If I could give this bank no stars, I would. CD matured on August 8, 2023, and I requested that the funds be sent to me in another state. Today is September 12, 2023, and I still haven't received the funds despite numerous phone calls, a letter, pleading. You CANNOT get to a real banker from the branch you have your money in. Instead, they route you, no matter what phone number you call, to a service center. Those answering the phone are polite, incompetent and have no vested interest in you. I've done business with this bank for approximately 9 years and had no problems in the past when they had their original moniker, "Newburyport Five Cent Savings." Fast forward to a bureaucratic bloated morass of incompetence (they have something like 20-30 VP's in this organization), and here we are today with a new moniker, "Newburyport Bank - Journey Well." I would say my journey has been from he**. I can't get my money from this fraudulent bank, and I believe they never sent me my funds but, instead, and it's an old strategy of banks, they are floating the money, getting interest off of the funds and will, when they decide to, send me my money. Beware. Crooks. Liars.

I loved this bank, until they cut those trees down in front of the building. Everyone who has worked there has always been great to me for the 15 years I’ve had an account there, but I will be closing my account, as I am a true tree hugger

I recently lost my father and Amanda and Nancy at the Portsmouth branch were beyond kind and helpful settling his accounts with me. They are the nicest people I could have hoped to help me in a very stressful time. As soon as you walk in bank you are greeted with smiles and a cheery Hello.

I’ve had an account here for around 20 years. Literally my first savings account - to my first checking account ect. However, there always seems to be an inconvenience with banking here. Whether it’s the getting a new system, the ATMs being down, the debit card maker being broken, or the same machine being swapped out for a new one, or this bank doesn’t support other applications, or the endless renovations. The list goes on.Don’t get me wrong, the staff there are amazing people. Always very friendly, they will remember you by name eventually and it’s always a pleasant time during a transaction. So my complaint has absolutely nothing negative about the staff and everything to do with the operations.I think at this point I’ll be switching to TD or a Credit Union.

Great staff and facilities. The addition is much nicer than the original old bank building.

So I see a new sign, Newburyport Bank, over the old Provident bank branch in Hampton NH. My main bank is Citizens but have been looking (unsuccessfully for a new bank) so not to have all my eggs in one basket. When I went to the Citizens atm and it was out of service as it is a few times a month. Thinking I would open an account at the Newburyport Bank to have a few grand in for cash emergency's would be a good idea. I do the online application, at the end I am show a post that it will take a few days to review my application. I have never waited a few days for a checking account so I call the customer service and ask why that would be. I am told she will reach out to the online folks and see what is up and call me as soon as she has an answer. When I did the online application I deposited a hundred dollars. I get no call or e-mails. I am truly blown away by the total lack of customer service banks and company's provide. Makes no sense to me. I would think they need customers right? So why screw with them right out of the gate? Are there any bank or credit unions worth while anymore? Such a shame!
