Diverse art gallery in Newburyport. Exhibitions seem to rotate every few weeks and feature the work of local artists who are often also members. Works are generally paintings or photographs but there is also an outdoor sculpture garden.

The Art Association is a hidden treasure in downtown Newburyport. It is a nonprofit organization and does not charge a fee to enter. Behind the building is a beautiful, outdoor sculpture garden, open year round, featuring works of local artists in a very scenic, waterfront setting. Inside there are amazing works of art in a number of galleries. It is completely non-pretentious, no one will bother you when browsing, and all the art is for sale at really reasonable prices. There is a tiny gift shop with unique local gifts.

My Mother was a member for years. She has won awards there and shown her paintings there.

Smaller, but every bit as important as the Rockport (MA) Art Association to us. Rotating "Featured Artist" exhibits are always interesting. Most of the works are extremely affordable to purchase, and the gift shop features many small pieces of original art (we usually buy at least one thing each time we visit), as well as items geared toward children (books, etc). The building, itself, is pretty, too.

It's the best art association in the area. Love the building and good group of showing artists. Good curators for juried shows. Prizes.
