“Spent a few days in Newburyport recently. The Compass Rose Inn is situated in the heart of town allowing you to park and walk to many stores and restaurants during your stay. So many nice places to dine within walking distance. Quiet, large rooms, excellent breakfast and well maintained. The innkeeper Kim was friendly, helpful and and accommodating . She is a great asset to this establishment. This is a great place to stay if you travel to that area of MA.Rooms: Large, quiet, well maintained.Walkability: Easy walk to restaurants and stores.”

“We stayed here along with many other guests who were attending a family wedding over Labor Day weekend. Newburyport is a great setting for a wedding, but equally import to the setting is the accommodations. The Garrison Inn delivered the goods on that front. But what really stood out to myself and the other guests was the Manager Jody and her staff. No detail was overlooked, every question was answered and we were always greeted with smiles, asked if there was anything we needed and made to feel like it was our own personal Inn. I work in the Customer Service / Experience field and would give 5 stars across the board to Jody and her staff. I wondered if they ever slept! The Garrison Inn is a must stay if you are visiting that area and along with all the great memories of the wedding, the Garrison Inn provided all of us with even more fantastic memories. By the time we all checked out, it felt like the Garrison Inn, Jody, and her staff were part of the collective event, Great setting, awesome accommodations, and dedicated and invested staff all contributed to a unbelievable destination weekend get-a-way, which will be remembered for a long time! Well Done.”

“The Inn is so cozy. I am staying in December, and the place is decorated so beautifully and elegantly for the holidays. I especially love the tub to soak and relax in. There is a large TV over the fireplace (cleverly hidden behind cabinet doors) that I can watch from the chairs or the bed.The Grove restaurant, on the grounds, is also really sweet and cozy, and the burger I had there was excellent. This is a very nice place to stay if you really want to get away--you don't have to leave the Inn grounds at all. However, if you're looking for a trip with lots of things to do in the surrounding area, this may not be the place for you (although I love to head to nearby Newburyport to shop!).Things I did not love, but will not stop me from staying here again because of what a great overall experience I had: I had a hard time getting the gas fireplace to light each time I go to use it, which may be my own issue. I don't love that the timer for the fireplace makes a constant noise while the fire is going. I also wish there was a way to have tea or coffee (or just hot water) in the room, but there are tea/coffee stations around each corner, in the hall, which is sweet. I did get woken up a couple times by people walking in the room above me (didn't get to sleep past 6:45am because of it). I must be a light sleeper. Next time I'll request a second floor room...”

“Jason and Makiko are wonderful hosts! We stayed at Kaede for a night to attend a wedding nearby in Ipswich. The property is beautiful, warm, welcoming, and lovingly maintained. Offsite parking behind the inn was a huge plus and provided peace of mind. The location is as good as it gets - super close to the town center and walkable to all the restaurants and shops. The amenities in the room and the bed were thoughtful and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic - I had the Japanese breakfast and my husband had the stuffed French toast. Both were prepared fresh and really tasty. They also provide fresh coffee, tea, and orange juice. We enjoyed our stay here and will be returning the next time we visit the north shore.Walkability: Extremely walkable to the center of town, shops and restaurants.Noteworthy details: Thoughtful Japanese accents, very cute earthenware plates for breakfast!”

“Arbor Inn was a great place to escape to for a relaxing couples night. We stayed in the room with the jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The room was enormous and the gentleman in the office was very friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be shelving in the shower to put soap and shampoo on and better options for DirecTV. HBO maybe?”

“Breakfast for some strange reason is getting harder and harder to find on the strip. Thankfully McGuirk's comes through! We each got an omelet and they did not skimp on the fixings!Hashbrowns had some burnt edges but was not greasy so I'lltake the few burnt over grease any day! Pricing was right where you expect and service was great.”

“We came in early to avoid traffic. The office staff were very accommodating to get us in early. They also allow parking and use of pools prior to check in. Our room was clean and spacious enough.”

“Room was really small, not a problem for me, for I was staying in the room alone. Bed was firm. I loved it, but could see why some people have complained about it. Service was awesome. Can't remember they guy's name who was working at night, but he has a pony tail. Helped me out with parking and made my stay very enjoyable. How your staff treats customers is everything and he had it with a smile. Check out some of my other reviews. I don't hold back. The price was worth it”
