Customer service at this bank on Storey Ave in Newburyport is horrible. I recommend Banco Of America, which is just a few minutes away. Staff are polite, smiling and treat you with respect.

The Newburyport Eastern Bank branch has the worst customer service. Our online banking account was hacked via a call from Eastern and corresponding 6 digit text codes from Eastern. Since Eastern’s customer service is closed on the weekends you can’t actually stop a hacking from continuing until you go to a branch or customer service opens again days later. By that time your money is long gone. After spending 2hrs with Kristen at the branch to close our accounts and re-open new ones, plus assign all pending transactions to the new account everything is still a mess one week later. 4 visits and 5 hrs later we still have very few answers as to why Kristen failed to help us correctly. Why the branches calls with the corporate office were processed incorrectly. Why some transfers, payments and direct deposits were all done incorrectly. Plus we still have no answers as to where the cash that was stolen from us will be returned. Eastern was hacked and there was a data breach. No call backs, lots of questions, missing money and payments. Not to mention Kristen was very rude and became defensive when we brought up all of these issues with her and her manager. Be careful banking here.

We've worked with Eastern for years. For personal banking and our business accounts we always get great service and great advice! Recently worked with Connor Pero there...he's been so responsive and so helpful..it's just been a great relationship with Eastern. Thanks gang!

I've been a customer of Eastern Bank for over 25 years. Around 7 years ago, my wife and I bought a house in Amesbury. Since then, Eastern Bank in Newburyport has been my main Eastern Bank. The staff there are always very helpful and personable. There's been dozens of times where I needed a notary over the past several years, and there's always one available and happy to help at the Newburyport location.Recently, I was the victim of a pretty embarrassing scam where my Eastern Bank accounts were compromised. It was entirely my fault. Upon calling 1-800- EASTERN they froze my accounts immediately and took all the precautions needed to stop any further damage from being done. In order to reopen my accounts I had to go to a physical location. Luckily, Assistant Branch Manager Connor Pero at the Newburyport location was able to help me transfer my money to new accounts, set me up with a new debit card, order new checks, get my online banking account unlocked, and much more. He took a truly mortifying/nerve wracking/embarrassing moment of mine and resolved it in under 30 minutes. I can't properly put into words what a relief it is to have this taken care of so quickly and easily.Service like that is why I'll always stay with Eastern Bank and why I've also recently opened a joint account with my son there. Thanks again Connor!

No notification no call no text etc. They shut my ATM card off due to suspected fraud but they just figured I would justShownUp. Deplorable customer service

This bank is hot dog s**** I would not support a bank with such a toxic track record. Predatory policies, and awful to its employees. You can read up on Glassdoor. Really upsetting stories from employees. They acquired my through acquisition of Century bank. Proceeded to not inform me and wrongfully destroy my credit. Refused to undo their mistake citing internal policy I was mostly disturbed when on a recorded chat line your customer service agent told me "Its your responsibility to pay your loan and it doesn't matter if we told you or not" This is an example of the toxic culture that exists at Eastern. These predatory rules were designed and put in place by the executives. If they put as much effort into helping your customers as you did into ruining their day you would be a terrific financial services partner. I managed to make on time payments for 7 years and have excellent credit. A few months of having Eastern bank in my life turned my credit score upside down.

Terrible loan department! Use them if you want your credit to drop. I had a car loan for my wife's car with them for 6 years. Account without my knowing went 30 days past due on 1 payment at the end of my 6 years due to the auto pay stopping. Bank never informed me via phone that it was missing. Also had a fraud scheme spoofing Eastern Bank's customer service. By the time they sent a letter to me they reported a missed payment to the credit companies. Really a client that has paid consistently for 6 years, with perfect credit, on auto pay decided to stop paying with only a few payments left?? My perfect credit took a 81 point hit. Tried to get them to retract it with credit bureaus after I also paid off the loan in full as soon as I knew about the error. Their response- they are correct I was late on my payment. Sent in full documentation and letter to bank to dispute it again. Denied. Too many other good bank choices to use Eastern. If this is how they treat a great client that had a bank error how are they going to treat you?

you visit the branch on Storey Avenue Newburyport & what ever your question on banking , one of the staff will endeavour to resolve the problem. Any problem i have gone with at least a member of the staff knows the answer. I went in with one question & noboy was 100% so they wrang head office, the question was resolved NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE
