This is a review for the restaurant only. The ambiance is very cozy. I love the dining by candlelight and fireplace concept. Service was good. The food was ok, but not amazing - especially at the price. The mushroom soup had a lovely texture but was under seasoned . The chicken and beef were fine as were the desserts. Certain components lacked some flavor. I'd recommend going at least once for the experience. I give it 3.5 stars.

Reviewing the restaurant, not the inn. Food is amazing. Apps, mains, dessert, cocktails - all so very good. Service was the definition of professional and comfortable. Really friendly but attentive and on point. The space is unique with candlelight only in the dining rooms. Very romantic. My wife and I have dined here a number of times and every time is phenomenal.

Once ranked the number one historic inn in New England by Yankee magazine, The Old Inn on the Green has hosted guests since 1760. The inn began as a stagecoach stop where riders would exchange tired horses for rested horses to reach their destination as quickly as possible. Today, travelers looking for a historic experience can stay the night or have dinner while admiring the restored interior.

Our stays have always been enjoyable, for the most part, and dinners are always superior... also, the rooms are historic and furnished with antiques, some of which can be comfy. Water pressure in the shower was too low, and this particular bed was very firm.Christmas Lighting outside was beautiful, and room 201 is spacious. It also has its own parking space conveniently near the back entrance with a view of the pool area and nearby wooded areas as well

What a fantastic dining experience for Christmas Eve. Only candlelight made the mood so festive. The food was delicious, especially loved the winter salad and tenderloin, and our waiter was charming and attentive. We'll definitely go back.

We arrived a bit early and got seated right away. The Christmas lights outside the Inn were spectacular! Jesse our waiter was very helpful with our decisions and multiple people checked in on our experience during the dinner. The choices for the 3 course fixed meal were great and they accommodated our vegetarian diner as well. Definitely would return again!

This little haven of beauty, is the perfect getaway from the city. The inn, built in the 1700’s has all the character and charm you’d expect, with incredible food and warm hospitality. Rooms have giant beds, big bathtubs, wood burning fireplaces and wide planked wooden floors. Peter and Meredith are delightful, and dinner is a multi course treat. This is our favorite place to run away to, and satisfies all the cozy expectations.Rooms: Gorgeous, filled with old books, cozy towels and a fireplace. The kind of place you want to snuggle with a book and drink a glass of red one. Like sleeping in Laurie’s house but with Little Women energy.Food & drinks: The food is exceptional! Seasonal menu, creative and homey at the same time, in a (fully) candlelit dining room with old school fancy tableware. The bar is full, the waitstaff are delightful and the vibes are impeccable. It’s like going to your fancy grandmother who has a house from the revolutionary war, a stately dining room, a full kitchen staff and a classically trained chef. All the delicious, none of the pretension.

Candlelight, the smell of old fires, and a welcoming innkeeper straight out of central casting: this was a delightful refuge on a gross night. The prix fixe menu was decent value and especially for such high-quality, inventive dishes; even the coffee was excellent. I'm rushed but did not want to skip praising these folks: it was a delight without flaw.

Excellent setting and service. Quite good food, though some flavors were pretty ordinary and unsophisticated. One meat dish arrrived at just barely above room temperature, so disappointing. Overpriced in general, but in addition we ordered a dessert outside of the prix fixe, and they charged $20 for three small (1-inch) scoops of gelato. I might try it again.
