When I moved in with my fiancee three years ago, I needed to find new/local alternatives for many things, including a barber. After several failed attempts to find something that satisfied me, my fiancee suggested I come with her to her hair salon. I'm glad I did. She's been going to Salon Di Carlo for years. She observed that besides many female clients, the lone male hairdresser, Rick, had many male customers, too. I've been getting haircuts from Rick at Salon Di Carlo for 3+ years. He's a great conversationalist and, more importantly, gives me an excellent haircut every time. I have fine hair and a goatee. Over the years, I've heard, "Giving you a good haircut is tricky," numerous times. And I've had many bad haircuts as a result. Not so with Rick. He's a real pro. Salon Di Carlo is conveniently located in downtown Needham and has ample parking. The place is clean and neat, and all the employees I've encountered are great. Is it more expensive to get a men's haircut at a salon? Sure. But it's worth it when you get a great cut every time and like the person doing it.

Highly recommend Salon DiCarlo!!! Julie has been doing my hair for years and is incredibly talented, especially with color. I can always count on her for great highlights and styling. Everyone at the salon is so skilled, professional and friendly. It is immaculate and they are really serious about all of the Covid-19 protocols. It's always a pleasure to go here!

If I had a nickel for every compliment I have received on my hair over the past 20 years I would be a very wealthy person!! I started going to Salon Dicarlo when I was 8 months pregnant and needed to find a salon that was close to my house in Needham as I was about to have our second child and convenience was a priority! Many of my neighbors were already clients there so it was an easy option. I can honestly say in the past 20 years I have never regretted my decision!! Cindy Osgood (part owner) is a gifted and competent hair dresser and even more so she is an awesome person! I have built a very strong friendship with Cindy over the years and I look forward to my scheduled appointments to not only get my hair cut but to catch up on life! I don't know how she does it but we have full and in depth conversations and my haircuts still come out perfect! She is a great multi-tasker! I have also been getting my hair highlighted for many years too at Salon Dicarlo by Viv. My hair always looks natural and fresh as she "tweaks" the formula ever so slightly depending on the season! Salon Dicarlo is truly a family and I am lucky enough to feel a place at their home! Their rates are way below other high end salons that you might find in downtown Boston but the quality, cleanliness and attention you receive is so much more!! My kids have been seeing Marina who is another stylist here for many years. In fact, my daughter still waits to come home from college to have Marina do her hair! Give Salon Dicarlo a chance, I promise you won't be sorry!!

Had my hair done by Marina today , she did an amazing job ... my hair was definitely a challenge, she was kind,professional and took great care in cutting and styling my hair ... Salon DiCarlo is an incredible salon with a great staff full of friendly faces and funny people. The owner Carol is an absolute delight, and is beyond talented at what she does. The receptionist is always welcoming and kind, and the gentleman who washes your hair is entertaining and very easy to connect/relate to. People always complain about making small talk while sitting in a salon chair, but I promise you that this is one place you will not find yourself feeling uncomfortable. Everyone makes sure to contribute to an environment that is upbeat and puts you at ease! The staff all get to know you and will ask you how your mom, dog, and uncle are doing without any hesitation or uncomfortable pause that's typically brought on by the person attempting to remember things about you. They'll want to hear about your kids, and be sure to ask about their's as well! The more you get to know each other, the more at home you'll feel each visit, time and again. The only thing I would recommend is to ask to take a step outside with your stylist when picking a new color to try in your hair. Their lighting is fabulous for mood, and doing hair (since they all do a wonderful job), but it can be a strain on the eyes and distort your ability to perceive things clearly. I know from experience, and I also know it was my fault because Carol, another staff member, and my mother (who's a customer that goes every other week) told me to step outside and check out the color book, but I refused, thinking the lighting was fine and in a rush to have my whole new look. The brown I wanted was a bit redder than I realized, so it wasn't perfection after my first visit (but how often are dramatic color transformations, anyways??), but I was able to return, do it right, and get the look I wanted, and I could not have been any happier! So listen to the advice of the staff, they have all been in the business longer than most, and, in my opinion, have each come as close to perfection as possible. Feel free to bring in pictures and tell them exactly what you have in mind, and they're going to do everything they can to make that happen for you and your hair type. They might give you notes, but you're welcome to take them or leave them. And as far as consultation goes - they're fabulous - so whether you know exactly what you want, or you're in need of a change but don't know what, they're there to help! They make you feel like family. It's like getting a haircut from old friends. I've never been to a salon where I could say that and truly mean it. They may not be like the modern hipster places that have opened in the cities around MA, but they've got a vibe that is astounding no matter what decade you're in. It's cool and sleek environment mixed with its magnificently seasoned professionals who are each celebrated stylists virtuosi. I would recommend this business a hundred times over. Check it out for yourself!
