Worst Banking experience ever!! Direct Federal Credit Union has very limited ATM's in Massachusetts. Closest one to Foxboro is in Needham if you need to get cash or make an atm deposit. It is very inconvenient. They require 5 debit card transactions per month, remote deposits don't count towards the five. If you don't make the 5 transactions they hit you with a $10 fee. If you deposit a check for over $1000.00 they hold the money and release it in increments over a week's time instead of releasing the whole amount once the check has cleared. Only banking with them because of a low auto loan rate. Can't wait to be rid of them.

Worst customer service I called because they put a late payment on my credit report even when it was their fault for posting my payment late and not the day that I paid the person that I was talking to the only thing that he did was scream even when I did not have a raised voice I still was trying to explain the situation but he would not listen and hang up on me and now nobody will pick up and fix this problem

I joined last week. Juan from the branch was so thorough with his explanations. He also went above and beyond to walk me through what my experience would be after the account was set up. Everything he described happened within minutes. I have always banked with one of the largest banks in America but the service never felt warm. This is my first Credit Union account. So far I am very pleased.

I have had an auto loan with DFCU since 2018. This year, 2023, without warning DFCU added a $1080 fee for "Forced Placed Insurance" to my loan because my car insurance company did not have DFCU listed as lienholder. I called DFCU and connected them with my insurance info showing that my car has been insured for the lifetime of the loan. DFCU told me that my account would be reimbursed for the fee. It has been almost a month since, I have called 3 times and have been told each time that the reimbursement has been approved, yet it has not been applied to my account. I hope someone from DFCU reads this and responds because this is starting to feel predatory.Update 8/24/23I did not receive a call yesterday as indicated I would from DFCU response to my comment, below.Update 8/25/23I received a call today from DFCU, the fee has been reimbursed on my loan. I updated rating to 3 stars.

Not a very good credit union. They redid the website a couple of years ago and it is complicated, more so than any other bank I have accounts with. The customer service people aren't very good, and the escrow person for a mortgage is worthless. I'd get totally out of this credit union if I didn't have a low rate mortgage from years back. No new business for them in the future.

We have been members of Direct Federal Credit Union for over 20 years. Since Day 1, customer service (in person and over the phone) has been excellent. Every contact we have had with Direct over these years (checking/savings accounts, mortgages, CDs, credit cards, etc.) has been professional, knowledgeable, and a true pleasure. We are very happy to continue our financial relationship with Direct Federal, and are grateful that they are actively engaged with our community. Thank you to Direct Federal for being our trusted financial institution with a big heart!

Having been a customer for over 30 years, I totally agree with the comments regarding change in level of service. 1. Since the remodel, one can't go in and make basic transactions as it is not set up as teller stations. It almost feels as if they are trying to keep customers away from any interaction. When calling on the phone, one must wait on hold for an unacceptable amount of time, and the level of professionalism has plummeted.

I've been a client at least since 1988 and my late husband much longer when DFCU was Polaroid Employees Credit Union. I have a HELOC with them, dating from 2003 (when my latehusband and I closed on the instrument) which is the bane of my existence. This institution which used to be available to respond to customer needs has become remote, scary and duplicitous., IMO.I''m at the point of complete emotional collapse with their "service," accessibility and terrible communication structures. When I call, I am forced to be on hold for 20 minutes. Then EACH and EVERY one of my many calls is dropped!!I can not speak with a person usually. The ONE time I have gotten to a person recently, apparently the information and assurance about my automatic payments he told me is false. I can not find an e-mail address.I never get informed what my ever increasing monthly payment is to be until I get a letter informing me that my (automatic) payment (of$1000.00) is not sufficient, it arrived late and here's a hefty late charge added on top! I am distraught, fearing to lose my home, and at wits end!!!!!!

Worse bank ever!! Watch out for auto loans, they add mysterious charges during your loan. That's not legal, and won't remove it. This bank does all kind of illegal things, and need to be reported. You have been warned, do not use this bank, they are not trust worthy and it's impossible to get a hold of people.

First off, I am Dan C. Somerville, Massachusetts not Dan C. S.F. as D.C.U. has me listed. I joined the D.F.C.U. when it was Polaroid C.U. probably 50 years ago. Loved it until about 3-5 years ago. Always raved that they still had reps answering the phones that could take care of 95% of questions and problems. Then they changed their website. I actually talked with a "Service" manager 2 years ago and asked her is they had inadvertently hired a competitor's webmaster to redesign their site. It is the worst, most complicated and user unfriendly site I have ever encountered in my life. It's no better now than when the phony "Service" Manager told me it would get better. I have moved all my business out of D.F.C.U. but am co-mingled with another member who won't move so I have to endure D.F.C.U.'s incompetence.

My elderly father is currently in the hospital and unable to communicate. Just spoke with their customer service department regarding a $450 late fee they are charging him due to the payment coming in a couple days late.Thought I could find a way to pay online but couldn't, so mailed check the day before payment was due. My father has never paid late, and they had zero compassion for me (his daughter) being completely overwhelmed by this situation. I now have to deal with the additional stress of this fee on top of everything else I am going through. Absolutely disgusted with this Direct Federal! You obviously do not care about your customers at all.
