I tend to think long and hard before leaving a bad review of a business as a small business owner myself. But the travesty of poor business management I experienced needs to be information available to others - if only so they know what NOT to do when renting storage units. Never. Assume. Anything. Always confirm everything and GET IT IN WRITING.

First, the unit ceiling leaked for several weeks each time it rained after we first moved in, including antiques. I was just lucky I had to go get something from the unit and found water all over the floor and on a few items that fortunately for me did not suffer from being wet. It took weeks to arrange for it to be repaired, including convincing staff that there actually was a leak from the ceiling. Had to take pictures and send them in order to get them to believe me. Then when I moved out of the unit - 4 weeks after the unexpected death of my husband, so not apparently not my usual thorough self - I had 2 10 mins discussions with office staff in person about moving out and what I had to do to clean it properly. I went into office and told staff that I was done moving out and cleaning, and asked if I needed to do a 'walk thru' with them. They said no that they would take care of that later. I was not given any further instructions and NEVER told that if a lock was left on the unit that they would keep charging me for it. No one contacted me to advise me that there was a lock still on the unit - turns out my movers must have put it back on when we were leaving. Even so, they never said all locks had to be removed. The monthly charge was going to a rarely used business account my husband had that I only reviewed at tax time for any business transactions. Come to find that the unit charge - $331 - was coming out every month since Nov 2019. Funds that I thought were going to be available to help pay for some desperately needed business expenses - gone. All because EZ Storage could not pick up a phone or send an email back in November to check on why I said I was moved out and cancelling my unit, but there was still a lock on the door. As someone who has run all kinds of businesses over the years, that is such a glaring and irresponsible oversight that I can only recommend that NO ONE ever use EZ Storage as I assume the same practice is used at all their facilities. Staff were always pleasant and helpful, tho not fully informative it turns out. So 1 star for the staff. Outcome was a refund of this month's unit rental - out of kindness presumably. Apparently EZ Storage uses the rule "the customer is always wrong."

not a very clean place, very dark at night and birds are a big problem when I opened, there was dirt and feathers all over the stuff in the unit.

Wow...just went to clear out my storage unit and my heart is broken. My stuff had become moldy and musty and after spending $100.00 per month to keep my stuff safe, I got there to discover mold on much of it. Half of it had to be tossed. Of note also were several mice running around in the hallways and the lighting kept shutting off so I was standing there in the dark trying to find my phone to turn on my flash light. Please...do yourself a favor and go some where that has climate control. It may be slightly less to rent there than a more reputable place but...if you have to throw away all the things you've been PAYING to keep clean, dry and safe...you've thrown your money away. This place is prety horrible

I don't have experience renting here, however I showed up for an auction, as i have done many times before at this location. (So I have done business with them before) i confirmed the auction was happening while driving an hour to get there, and as I arrived ahead of time, people were leaving and the manager said the auction was cancelled at his discretion, last minute. He wouldn't tell me all the details, other than the owner of the unit paid something towards his bill. I consider it dishonest advertising to promote an auction, confirm it, and have bidders show up in good faith, cash in hand and then cancel as it is about to start. The actual auctioneer person from storageauctionsolutions wasn't there, because he fled beforehand. The manager if the facility said the law allowed him to cancel and I suggested changing to an earlier deadline so that people who attend an auction would know whether to attend or not. This is just bad business, "following the law" is a cowardly excuse to conduct bad business. If the law is not right, do something about it.
