The manager at this location is the worst! I had a reservation and we had to adjust the start date due to a death in the family. The office was closed by the time we arrived so I asked them to leave the keys at the desk. They did not. The website says they are closed on Mondays and they don’t answer the phone or check voicemail. In the end, we had to pay an ADDITIONAL $2,500 to rent the car. They took no responsibility and were completely awful to work with.
Update 7/16: Contacted customer service. No help. Offered escalation 48hrs ago, still waiting for someone to answer.

Counter was efficient on pickup, car was clean and ready, but almost out of fuel.
Be careful and check your receipt after returning closely. Had a 24-hour rental, 11:30-11:30AM. Hertz has a 29 minute "grace period" after the rental period before you get charged any additional money.
Got caught in traffic heading back to the airport, turned my keys in at 11:44AM at the counter, after making sure to refuel and clean out the car a bit, and verifying the 'grace period' at the counter. I was a bit suspicious when the lady didn't even get away from the counter to check on my return, but hey I had a flight to catch.
Hop on the the flight home and get my receipt via email. Charged for extra time and for having to refuel the vehicle. Over $150 extra charges. $100 late fee and $50 refueling charge. Good thing I take photos of the dashboard when I pick up and return and they're timestamped. One call to Hertz customer support and it was remedied.
CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! I wonder how many people they're screwing who are in a rush home.

Lost my credit card and apparently hertz can't change the CC for a reservation without waiting on hold for an hour. However, lady at the desk was nice and upgraded us.

stole from me. Island isn't that big. Had car for two days. Filled the tank - $30... but they still charged me $25 extra for gas. No way as the fuel indicator was above full. out right theft. beware!

I booked a rental car, a mini-van months ago for two weeks this summer because we could not get ferry reservations for our car. We were waitlisted but nothing came through. I found out I had an opportunity to get a car ferried out there but many days after we got there. So I emailed to find out what the cancellation policy was and what would happen if we returned the car early. the reply from John was they have a weekly minimum. I wasn't sure what he meant so I reached out again to ask if we would lose amount for the full 2 weeks. His reply was "I can see where this is going, your reservation has been canceled." I was shocked! Who treats a customer that way?? would never use this business again!

I am a Hertz Gold member who has travelled and used Hertz at many locations across the country. This was our first time visiting Nantucket so we expected the same Hertz Gold service we receive at all other locations. Before arriving, we called Hertz to coordinate pickup from the ferry. We were told to call Hertz when we got on the ferry to make sure someone was there to pick us up. I called for pickup the day of travel and was told they don't pick up from the ferry after 5 pm. NO ONE at Hertz mentioned this during my booking. We had to pay for a cab out of pocket to get to the airport to grab our keys at an empty desk. Other Hertz locations have dropped off my rental car for me, or at the very least provided transportation to it, this Hertz seemed to be shocked that I would even ask for such treatment. The woman on the phone was very rude and I'm absolutely shocked that she was so unhelpful. I'm very disappointed that Hertz allows this location to treat their Gold members so poorly.

Joan who works at the counter is so helpful! She always gets me the car I want and with a great price. I love renting from here and will only use Hertz on Nantucket. Thank you for the amazing service!

I rented a car for 5 days on the island and I prepaid for it months in advance. When I got to the counter the lady was very rude and told me I had to put down another $1400 as a hold. I was unaware of that policy because I had never experienced that large of a hold on a prepaid car with any other rental company. She was annoyed and dismissive when I was trying to figure out how I was going to come up with $1400. After I quickly shuffled some money around we were on our way. The car was what I expected and the return was easy. Fast forward 2 weeks after I returned the car and I still have this charge on my account that I was told would be given back to me 7-10 days after the car was returned. I have called hertz customer service and they have also been dismissive and told me it was my banks fault. I called my bank and they just confirmed they double charged me and the hold has been released to be for some time. I will not be using them again and I suggest you find another rental company.

These guys were great! They picked us up at the ferry right when we arrived. Roger was more than accommodating with our customer service needs and Duane drove us to a breakfast place back in town when we returned the car and was able to give us direction to a couple other stops. These guys were also the cheapest I could find for a rental, highly recommend!

This was my first time renting from this company and it won't be the last. Ken, who took my reservation, was so helpful and willing to have me picked up at the pier by Duane who also works for this company even though the ferry came in later than they would usually offer this service. And then I discovered that my suitcase never made it onto the ferry and I didn't know how I was going to be able to get it from my parked car in Hyannis over to Nantucket. I was talking to my friends while Duane was driving us to get my rental car and he very generously offered to get the suitcase for me by taking the ferry back to Hyannis that evening and then bringing it to the rental car office for me to get the next day. This unselfish, kind man went out of his way to help me and insisted that I not pay him for his time and trouble to do this. Ken & Duane are outstanding staff for this company and I can't thank Duane, in particular, enough for his kindness. I will definitely rent from this company in the future when I annually go to Nantucket and I'd encourage greatly that other people do the same.

We made a reservation Online with Windmill rental- pickup at the Ferry. a Guy met us and we asked if he was our Windmill driver. Affirmative. At the airport we were told that our Toyota had been upgraded to a Jeep. We said NO. We will not pay more. They lowered the price to $69/day for a one day rental, and we signed- all the time thinking- Not thinking they were our Windmill rental. Stupid I know. Got to the car and it hit us. Went back to demand they cancel the car. Roger finally gave us a cancellation and we walked over to WINDMILL who had our reservation waiting. Very nice. Arrived home to a BILL FROM Nantucket Island rental for $336.00. I am declining the charge and filing a fraud statement with my credit card.
