Steve is a passionate and incredibly knowledgeable guitar teacher for people of all ages.I originally took lessons with him when I was 6 years old, and when I picked the guitar back up as an adult, there was nowhere else I would have considered taking lessons.A true Melrose institution, anyone of any age who is considering taking guitar lessons should take some lessons with Steve and see how much working with a teacher that cares can lead to growth as a guitar player.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Steve for about two months now, and my progress has been insane. I’ve progressed much faster than my friend who has been doing online courses, and even as a beginner, I can see all the bad habits he has learned because he doesn’t have an instructor to correct him. If you’re considering the benefits of in person courses vs learning from a voice in the computer, you would just have to listen to my roommate play for 5 seconds before you signed up for classes at this place. I cannot recommend them enough.

This is a great place to take lessons. The learning environment is relaxed and the instructors are easy to get along with, but most importantly, the lessons are fun!

The Music Shop is a great neighborhood music store focused on lessons with a retail and repair business on the side. We have taken guitar and piano lessons here for the last two years and could not be happier. The teachers are engaged and interested in teaching kids things that enhance their skills and keep them interested. The range of music you hear them teaching demonstrates their commitment to the student - not their own interests. I wish my parents sent me to this kind of place growing up instead of learning to read music for "Mary Had a Little Lamb". Bad enough for piano, imagine it for a kid that wanted to learn rock guitar. The space was recently spruced up and has a nice vibe. If you are interested in lessons for guitar, bass, uke, drums, piano and a few other instruments this place is definitely worth checking out.
