  Signed up to have our fire detectors and security system replaced - paid rather a lot over the going rate for such a service, but installation only took a day - pretty good, I thought. Walked through the house the next morning to find all the magnets attached to the doorways in my house had been done with a cheap adhesive and were now lying on the floor. OK, I thought, I can glue these up, not a problem. Last weekend one of the brand new (and very expensive) fire detectors went off for no reason - we don't light candles or have a fireplace running. Strange, I thought, I"d better call Alarn New England. The service tech with whom I spoke said it was probably "dust particles or a spider walking across the unit" which I felt was a poor deflection, given how fire detectors work - I've just cancelled an appointment that would have cost me 130 dollars plus 30 dollars for EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES the technician decides to hang around (so don't ask any questions, folks!) so they can determine if the unit is faulty. At least I have the new tech when I sign up with a different security/fire service. Avoid at all costs.Services: Technical support

  I contacted Alarm New England because it was by far the best alarm company nearby that has alarm monitoring. With the crime rate in New Bedford going up I am really pleased to have found a reliable home security system.Services: Security cameras

  I had this company's service for over 5 years. After a few years, at least three of the window sensors went bad (beyond battery replacement). It took several conversations with different reps to admit that they were a defective or recalled (?) product and this was after two service calls that were far from free. Then the unit battery in my basement went bad...another service call. Furthermore, I found them to be repeatedly negligent in calling me when the alarm was tripped at least 5 times. This was all thankfully accidentally over a year or more but they kept calling a wrong number. I eventually found that out. What if it was a true emergency? You get the point. Not a happy customer ;)There are DIY security systems for well under a thousand dollars that don't require the same expensive service calls and can be monitored remotely by the company and on your own phone. ANE offers all the standard feature for significantly more. I would estimate you'll pay triple what you think for the lifetime of their products. They also didn't mention how long their sensors would last when installed. I can't recommend this company or many of its competitions that I've tried. Go with one of the big name DIY systems and pay the monthly service. You'll still save money vs going to ANE.
