As someone who's worked a few years in retail, when a customer wants to return something, you don't spit on them. You can turn them down politely if you need to, to make sure they'll return. That said, this is a cute store in an elegant open plaza. If the customer service improves, I'll be back.

This was my first visit to Ann Taylor on Bliss Road, and an excellent sales representative treated me in a friendly and efficient manner. I walked in with a shipping box containing a too-large suit I had to return, and I wanted to shop before completing the transaction. Before I asked, the representative approached me and offered to take the box plus set up a room with the items I wanted to try on. She processed the return and a new purchase promptly. Thanks for the excellent service and help for a new customer who was worried about requesting a return during my first visit.

I wish I had taken a look at the other reviews before stepping foot into this store. I shop regularly at Ann Taylor, mostly online. I once had luck returning something without a tag from a very friendly sales woman at the factory location so I planned to stop by the Longmeadow store to return a disappointing online purchase and also to peruse other items. I came to regret that decision. The transaction I had with the woman working behind the cash register turned very tense and confrontational as soon as I suggested I was interested in returning a blouse without a tag. She immediately began accusing me of wearing the clothing around, answered my questions with an increasingly annoyed tone of voice, and then refused a 'thank you' or 'goodbye' when I politely took my item to leave. The demographic of this town is mostly white and affluent so if you fit the description, you may be treated with some decency, but I would warn other shoppers not to approach this particular location.

I am a woman of color and I felt disrespected from the moment I stepped foot into this store. I am new in town and drove a half an hour on my day off in hopes of purchasing some items and making a return. The woman working behind the cash register seemed as though she wanted to pick a fight with me. I have never had such a condescending and humiliating exchange with an Ann Taylor employee. I will be back to shop here when this woman is fired.
