TLDR: staff kissing babies during cold and flu season. I want to have a conversation with the staff because they are lovely but please don’t kiss my baby.***This Hannaford is my go to but in the past few months I’ve become wary to go. The prices are high, yes, but the selection is great, I always find what I need, the distance is perfect as well. So what could the issue? Twice now staff members have touched my toddler inappropriately and kissed him on the head during the cold and flu season. I have said he’s not comfortable with that and tried to politely tell them to stop but I don’t think they understood. I’m now home nursing my sick baby. Could it have been from them? I don’t know. I just believe that touching a baby/toddler/child that way is inappropriate. Ask permission please and if I say no, I humbly ask you to please respect the boundary.~thank you from a very worried and tired mama

I have lived in this city for over a year now and need to review my thoughts about the Hanneford Market near me. At first I thought it was awesome having a supermarket so close to me but I quickly realized that besides many items being more expensive than most other supermarkets the food is not always fresh or an abundance of. I have never purchased a moldy package of cheese anywhere but here, never asked for thin sliced cold cuts only to discover their idea of thin are thick slabs and on one occasion OLD tough, leathery pound of salami. I also always have to make certain I check the dates on everything I buy, or I am risking something that isn't fresh. For the price I pay out for the convenience of living close by this market more and more I really try to avoid going here now and go elsewhere further out where I get fresh, less expensive and an abundance of choices of items than what I find at Hanneford. I will still go to here but will limit as much as possible. Perhaps Hanneford would take a serious look at the issues I have addressed here and make some improvements. It would be greatly appreciated and deserving to customers given the higher cost and less abundance of choice this store has.

So on Saturday June 6th I did some shopping at Hannaford's supermarket on Lancaster Street. I purchased among other things hot dog rolls and brought them off to our campground. After grilling hotdogs I grabbed the rolls and proceed to stuff them with the hotdogs. After my husband ate almost a whole one I yelled "wait put that down"! I pulled another hot dog roll from the bag and the whole middle was gone except the crust! As I looked further at the bag I noticed a hole in it! Either a mouse or rat ate it!!! I brought the left over rolls and bag back to Hannaford the next day. As I enter the store the front end person saw me with the bad and immediately said "we can't take anything back". I then explained what happened and very rudely she said go get another bag. I said I "no" I don't want another one and that maybe they should get in touch with their pest control person. I was so angry first of all at the attitude she had and her lack of care for the health of their customers. Well that was enough for me I will no longer shop there.

Hannaford is fine. But from time to time, it will let you down. Late at night, staff is cut and things don't get restocked. For example, last night, spaghetti squash and cilantro were out. I left a half-filled cart and went to the Market Basket. There, I found everything I needed. I also counted 8 stockers in action. MB has better prices anyway. Sure, it can be crazy in the MB but I need a grocery store to be consistently stocked. Bottom line. Hannaford. Be better.

Going to Market Basket is a total test of patience, and I always leave Walmart feeling like I didn't get everything I needed, which leaves Hannaford as the clear winner as far as Leominster grocery stores go. It's clean and spacious, and all of the meat and produce always seems really fresh. The staff are friendly and knowledgable too! It is a little bit pricier than the other stores in the area, but the Hannaford brand items are usually comparable to the real thing and reasonably priced. (Try the seltzer as compared to Polar! Half the price and just as nice.)

I have been shopping here on and off for about 10 years. It's very clean and the staff are friendly. I have dietary restrictions and they usually have a good selection in the health food section. Unfortunately, they discontinue items a lot. It seems I find a favorite and next trip to the store it's gone. That's disappointing. Overall, my family is pretty happy with the store. I would just caution that they change inventory frequently. Other that, they offer a variety of great products at competitive prices for the area. Lastly, their produce is always fresh and beautifully maintained.

The store is clean so that is a plus and most of the employees are very nice. However the meat dept is really poor: there have been several instances where the meat is outdated-Ive found chicken out that was a week past the expiration date and prepackaged/cooked ribs almost a month passed! The produce section needs to check and rotate the items more too--specifically the tangerines are horrible--always find rotten ones in the bag. It seems they just overstock the meat and produce and the management team doesn't oversee the rotation of items properly
