Tails
385 Centre St, Jamaica PlainI have been bringing my Boxer, Ziggy, to Tails almost 5 days a week for the past 4+ years. The kind and patient staff that work there are incredible with every dog I see them interact with. They clearly build individual relationships with with each pup and understand how to manage individual needs and behaviors. They are responsive to my questions and thorough with vaccine checks. They have even helped me care for Ziggy through tough times post-surgery and addressed behavioral challenges thoughtfully. They are so caring and focused with Ziggy, I have complete and total trust in them when I leave town. I have boarded him for extended stays (up to 2 weeks) at both the JP and Dedham locations and he always comes home cared for, clean, and happy (not to mention, exhausted). Tails truly feels like family to Ziggy. We'd be lost without them.

Pet Care
The Boston Cat Hospital
3840 Washington St Ste 1, Jamaica PlainI have been taking my cats to Boston Cat Hospital for years, and they have received excellent care. Dr. Hazzard has cared for my senior ginger cat Diane through a dental, a bout of pancreatitis, and emerging hypothyroidism. She has very patiently answered all of my questions about the many tests and discussed my options. When Diane's sister Ruth suddenly and unexpectedly died at an emergency vet hospital I received a sympathy card signed by the entire staff. Dr. Hazzard also talked to me about the cause of Ruth's illness, something the emergency vets did not do. This simple kindness really helped me through a difficult time. I like the way they treat me, and I love the way they treat my cats. Highly recommended.

The Fetching Hound
178 Boylston St, Jamaica PlainOur boys love Mike, Thien, Glenn, and the whole Fetching Hound team! They're extremely organized, reliable, and professional and we trust them fully. Plus they work hard to put together crews of dogs who get along well. Often our dogs see their Fetching Hound buddies on the street and stop to say hi -- always funny when the dogs know each other but the dog parents don't!

Boston for the Dogs
20R Brookley Rd, Jamaica PlainWe have been working with BFTD for several years now and have had great experiences. Part of why we've continued to come back is not only the progress our dog has made, but also the unique community feeling the team works hard to create. It is clear that our dog is not just a number and it's great to connect with staff and other clients in classes and the very active Facebook group.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants
Ula Café
284 Amory St, Jamaica PlainI stopped in here with a friend after a long walk and I'm so glad we went here. We got there not too much before closing, but they were just as friendly and accommodating as if we got there first thing. They have a ton of options, including plenty for vegetarians and vegans. I got the breakfast burrito (as I am seemingly always craving one) and my friend got the caprese. I was tempted by the treats they had in the display case, but we opted just to get our sandwich/burrito. Our food came out quickly and was perfectly made. I really appreciated that the egg in my burrito was bodega-style which made it so much less messy to eat. My friend practically devoured her sandwich; she thought the maple balsamic was so tasty and the veggies and pesto were really fresh. She has food allergies and was really happy with how much they laid out what was and wasn't in the food. They had convenient parking and plenty of outdoor tables. I will definitely come back when I'm in town.

Evergreen Eatery & Cafe
154 Green St, Jamaica PlainI really love this place, the food and drinks are great, especially since it’s so close to home, work and daughter’s school. I’ve lived in the area my entire life and I understand the crowd here for the most part is very laid back and chill but I think it’s so rude to not have a sense of urgency when you see you have a line of people waiting to order and it’s the morning rush time. I want my tea and I plan accordingly to get it so I can arrive to work on time but it takes me 15 min easily because I have to wait for the employee to finish talking about their hair appointment…inconsiderate and rude.
