I have had mixed experiences with this shelter. Annette cares very much about the animals and is so nice as well as respectful to you during the adoption application process. Unfortunately, Liz was rude in her emails, just like others here have mentioned. I can appreciate wanting to ensure a happy, healthy home for cats needing adoption, but I think she really takes it to the extreme.
I would never say to avoid adopting from this shelter, but I would say your chances and experiences are greatly impacted by which person you end up dealing with.

They claim they call back within 24hours. I’ve called & left voicemails for well over a week in need of help. Lazy!

So, I helped facilitate my friend getting a kitty. We went to Carmah/Petco and can I just say, it's only been 6 days and they are getting along so so so wonderful. CarMax was awesome and so was Petco. My friend needed a companion and has gotten that and then some.

The adoption process is very lengthy and time consuming. I provided two reference's but they need more and more...I am disappointed after all paper work and the references provided..

We recently denied the adoption process after providing information regarding cats who lived almost 2 decades, along with vet references that showed tremendous care of our animals. While every animal should go to a safe and loving home, being denied due to our pets missing seem annual well visits when they were younger is ridiculous. Our records demonstrate very good care for our kitties who are greatly missed. We definitely do not recommend this rescue and feel great sadness the animals will remain in cages longer than necessary.

I love my new tortoise shell kitty Cora May. She has adjusted so well and has become a new source of joy for our family. Carmah was great. They do amazing work for some very needy fur-sons. Give them the opportunity to find your perfect pet! Glad we did!!

We adopted two kittens from CaRMAH. Within 24 hours of picking them up (when they already rushed pick up) they were showing symptoms of conjunctivitis an upper respiratory infection. We were told to contact our vet and bring it up during an exam so we did so within a week of having them. Turns out they had conjunctivitis, upper respiratory infection, and G.I. parasites. Also, they were vaccinated, too young for the state of Massachusetts, so they do have to be revaccinated. We reached out to the rescue. They were rude, unprofessional, and unwilling to help with medical bills or refunding our adoption fee. This rescue does not care about the well-being of the animals they adopt out. They also don’t follow State vaccine guidelines. Truly disappointed but grateful we did rescue these cats now they are in better hands. Think twice before choosing CaRMAH.

Carmah is a cat rescue in Marlboro and Hudson area. They rely on volunteers to help trap and foster stray cats. Volunteers take the cat to a local vet (paid by Carmah) where they are neutered/ spayed and vaccinated. If they are feral then they are released back where they were caught. If they are friendly then they are fostered in volunteers' homes and put up for adoption on the Carmah website. Some of the cats are also brought to PetSmart in Hudson to display them and allow adopters to interact with a cat before adoption. They rely on donations and grants. Visit their website and if you can volunteer please do.

Not willing to work with you. Great foster parents but the head hancho Liz (as others have said) is completely out of touch and passive aggressive. Only waste your time here if you want to fall in love with a cat the have it ripped away after they already agreed to let you take it. WE HAD A PICK UP DATE SELECTED!!! I am furious. Super unprofessional and super passive. Clearly all about the money with these people.

No call back. No info on when someone will be there for us, potential adopters to meet kitties. There should at least be a sign up since CarMah won't call to say when they'll be there. Poor kitties! Stuffy little caged ....yawing...

I loved working with Cat Rescue of Marlboro and Hudson! We recently at the beginning of the month adopted our snuggly kitten Lilly and she is just a dream! Everything about the adoption process was easy and the volunteers I spoke to and met with were so nice and knowledgeable!
