“I'll tell you what, if we lived in town, I'd be bringing these guys coffee every morning. We're from Michigan, and during a drive from Maine on July 11, 2023, our van let all the steam out. Even though they had 9 local vehicles lined up for repair, they first diagnosed our emergency issue with a coolant pressure check. Identifying the problem within minutes, they soon had the uncommon part on its way from a dealer. The problem occurred at 7am, they opened at 8 when I called ... we were back on the turnpike at 10am. During that time, they also repaired two other vehicles, and did one state inspection, besides completing our repair. We made it to Michigan at 11:30pm that evening, without incident. Kudos to these gentlemen for knowing and practicing great customer service!!!”

“I have been going to Steve for my car for a little over 10 years now. When he moved to Ray's Auto, I followed him over, even though it's a 45 minute drive from Groton. Steve and his team are the most trustworthy, reliable, knowledgeable, and honest humans ever. Steve takes the time to physically show you exactly what your car needs, and what can wait and what cannot, as opposed to printing a laundry list of things your vehicle "needs" and overcharging you for things you didn't need. That has happened to me at other mechanic shops several times. I will not go anywhere else for my car. I drive 45 minutes for oil change too, because I know that my car will be taken care of with precision and I can drive out of there knowing my car is safe and in wonderful condition. I have had my 2013 Honda CR-V for 10 years now, and it's still running wonderfully thanks to Steve and his team. All this to say, is that trust is not something you find easily these days, and you will find it at Ray's Auto, that I can guarantee.”
“I was very impressed by this establishment. Today on the highway my tire ended up having the tread fall off from faulty glue. Apparently the dealership I bought the car from reconstituted the tire in a way that is technically illegal. Not only did the tire shop replace the tire that had the issue they also recalibrated all the tires, balanced them out, rotated them and filled them with nitrogen. All the way informing me of my options, prices and making sure I was comfortable with what we discussed! A++. Bottom line: although they are a bit pricey for the services their level of professionalism and expertise are worth it!!!”

“I needed a state inspection. Called in the afternoon and my call was answered within 10 seconds. I asked if they could get me in around 4:30 (they close at 5). Very friendly gentleman told me they can get busy near closing on the last day of the month, but to give a call when I was on my way and he would be sure to get me in. When I got there he gave me great information, helped with information about RMV, got the inspection done fast and sent me on my way a happy customer! Great experience!”

“I've had an incredible experience that is well worth the 3 hour drive from my home and back. Speedlife is owned by a gentleman who is currently on deployment (respect) out of the United States in Afghanistan for the Reserves (from what I recall). His father Jerry is running the shop while he is away. Jerry is an excellent communicator and a pleasure to work with! Louis and Josh are the main mechanics in the shop it seems. Louis has excellent attention to detail. He recognized that an aftermarket paint job had been done on my brake calipers and that there were anti-shake stabilizer clips missing or broken and they went through the effort of not only reacquiring those clips but scraping the paint down so that they would fit again. The difference on before and after brakes are phenomenal. Literally night and day.
After that initial experience I immediately requested to come back to have my spark plugs changed. Lewis did some testing and noticed micro misfiring and a full random misdownfire on one of the V6 cylinders. After changing them all misfires were gone. He is very accurate and doesn't withhold any information if you just talk to him about what is happening he will let you know all of the details. There are also willing to use parts that you have or purchase just don't expect them to warranty those parts.
Finally once we had figured out the misfire we decided to do an APR ECU stage 1 tune up after I done my own software update from thenavman website and saved $800 from avoiding a dealership. Audi vehicles come very under tuned from the factory. We changed the horsepower from 330 to 447, and the torque was increased by 100 lb. I actually attached a video to this review of a zero to 85 or so mph run, after the tuning.
I'm going back for a third time, to get my front camera replaced, an exhaust pipe welded, and a motor mount fixed. After the amazing experience with them I'm literally afraid to take it to another mechanic. It's too hard to find an honest mechanic in this world so I'll be sticking with them permanently going forward.
You should not expect quality work to be free. When it's done well, you're going to pay the equivalent cost. Rather than trying to save a couple hundred bucks spend the appropriate money and have the work done right! I was not paid or compensated for any of this review. “The first time I went to Marcel I had an expensive issue with my vehicle that had to be addressed immediately as my inspection sticker was about to expire. That was more than 20 YEARS ago. He repaired the problem right away using quality parts and charged me a price that was lower than I expected. I have gone to him for all my auto repairs (other than dealer required warranty work) since and have always been satisfied with the experiences. I have never had to return to him for any repair that he has performed and in more than 20 years there were a lot. He even drove my vehicles to the inspection station to get the new sticker.”
