Honestly, I don't see what the carping Shopzillas below are hot and bothered about. This is a large Stop & Shop, with the usual wares large supermarkets have, and very broad hours. Granted, I prefer Big Y, but I come here because I buy lots of generic DC, and Big Y's generic DC tastes like soap, and Stop & Shop's doesn't. (Another bonus is that Amherst has a plastic bag ban and Hadley doesn't.)Yes, the prices are horribly expensive, but that's the fact of life living here: they jack the prices to soak the students, like every other business in Amherst, Hadley and Northampton.

The stop and shop in Hadley has long been on the decline. However, today was the final straw. I went in specifically to purchase snow crab legs. Since the snow crab is always cooked, one would expect it to be safe under any circumstance. However, I discovered that the crab was rotten and smelled heavily of ammonia. This is not the first time I purchased rotten food from stop and shop but it is the last. It is obvious that quality control is not of high importance at this store. As a result, I will no longer shop at stop and shop. I suggest you go to big Y instead. As a result, I will no longer shop at stop and shop. I suggest you go to big Y instead
