Jack Davis, director of McCarthy funeral home, guided me through the pain of losing my mom. From the moment that I called him on the morning of her death, he walked me through every single step of the way… including the details for her memorial service in another state. He made calls on my behalf to the woman in charge of the cemetery in South Carolina where my mom‘s ashes would be interred so that the “niceties” of the day (tent to protect us from the sun, chairs, table, etc.) would be there and arranged for mom’s Honor Guard. Jack was the one who told me that mom qualified for the VA’s tombstone and Honor Guard - I had no idea about that. He also helped me choose an urn for mom‘s ashes and procured the documents that would allow me to bring her cremains on the plane. And, on more than one occasion, he would email me to check in to see if there was anything else he could do. A more compassionate, empathetic, professional, and organized Director of a funeral home I cannot imagine!

When my mom died unexpectedly, my sister and I were in uncharted waters. We did not know what to do or where to begin. We were fortunate to have John, Suzanne and their staff to help us through those difficult days. They were kind and patient and calm, just what we needed as we made decisions about the viewing and funeral. They made my mom look her very best, so much like the lovely woman she has always been. We will always be grateful for the support and guidance we received .

John Davis and his wife Suzanne run an efficient and respectable funeral home business. Our family entrusted their family with the arrangements for my grandmother in February and my grandfather this month, and John could not have been more pleasant to work with. He was prompt, attentive, polite, answered all of our questions, and even said a few very kind words at my grandfather's service because he worked professionally with my grandfather for a number of years. He is patient and will discuss all important aspects of the service with you in detail, and his wife is very kind and caring and will make you feel well taken care of during your time of loss. I would highly recommend this funeral home to entrust with the final care for your loved ones.

John Davis, owner, does not represent a kind, caring, compassionate individual with a focus on serving his customer. My recent experience and observations of any display of the above mentioned qualities gave evidence he has a lot to learn. Unfortunately his arrogance and self-righteous style clearly stood out. Sadly, this was while dealing with a family he knew very well.I would never seek out or recommend the services of this establishment given there are several others in the area that will live up to basic expectations and more. There is no excuse whatsoever to run this type of business and yet so abjectly fail customers under the umbrella of care/compassion. It pained me to give a 1 Star rating but that is required in order to post this review.
