Nobody wants to come to this place, it's usually when you've exhausted all other options at your local Vet. I can tell you, they make it as tolerable as they can, all things considered. We came here with our Great Dane, Charlie, after first seeing the emergency vet in Springfield who could offer little help for her enlarged heart. The staff are accommodating and empathetic for what we're were dealing with. They got Charlie back on her feet and she's much better now. Also, we had to pay up-front for a portion of the estimated bill (75%) when we left her there for treatment, and can you believe it, they gave us money back. That NEVER happened at any other vet we've used. Many vets are just out for the almighty $ but these folks didn't try and gouge us. I wish we had came straight here instead of wasting $5,000 at the emergency vet, which I was not impressed with to begin with. If your pet is sick, do yourself a favor and come here and skip the "middle-man" at the emergency vet.

I am extremely disappointed in this animal hospital. We have recently found out that our dog may have cancer. I have been trying for 24 hours with no luck to get through to someone who could schedule a biopsy. when I called, I was bounced around from extension to extension, while having to wait at least five minutes on hold between each extension, and still had no biopsy scheduled after 30 minutes. It is very emotional time for me. don't these people have any compassion? I am getting nowhere. I don't know why everyone I talk to recommends these people.

Met with Dr. Stockman today for the first time and she is absolutely AMAZING! She is incredibly patient, knowledgeable and diligent. We couldn't have asked for a better Dr./Specialist. We initially came to Tufts for the first time 2 years ago for Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV). Titus who is now 12 years old was 10 at the time and the Dr. That did his emergency surgery was equally amazing! In over 20 years of owning Danes and seeing a couple different vets, we have never had anyone take the time or show so much compassion for us or our pets. They are second to none. Everyone we had the pleasure of working with was fantastic! It took almost 2 hours to get Titus out of the truck. Dr. Stockman still made time to see us for over an hour. We never felt rushed or as though we were inconveniencing them. I'm not an easy to deal with pet owner and I don't give compliments easily or regularly! I highly recommend Tufts for any and all pet needs.

Dermatology department review: If you are desperate to help your pet or a large animal and no other vet helps, then you can use this hospital. But prepare to spend enormous amount of time dealing with countless mistakes, disorganization, not meeting a deadline, refusing to listen to you, ets. And be prepared to pay a top $$$ for all that mess. It took dermatologists at least 4+ years to manage my dog allergies. 4+ years of trials & errors. They do not communicate over the phone. So prepare to spend weeks of useless and wasted emails back and forth. They sent us wrong prescriptions, as they don't keep track what meds works what not. During Covid shortages of food supplies (my dog is on prescription med diet-$100/bag) they didn't helped to supply/sell us at least some amount of dry food. Many vet clinics provided food for its customers only. But not Colummings TUFTS school. On my devastation to find any food available they said "We providing food for our customers only". And after 4+ years being their customer, they don't treat /see me as customer!!! Shame!!! So if you are running out of options, and still considering to use Cummings services, be prepared to carefully monitor what they say/record and how they treat you. They made me feel as money supplier, in exchange of disrespectful attention to a customer, records mess, waste of time, unconsidered to your circumstances. It's a shame that no other vet clinics are available in the area who knowledgeable in depth of a specialty. In our case - dermatology.

Outstanding initial emergency / surgical care in our experience. STRONGLY SUGGEST if you do any follow-up appointments here to ensure you're clear on the timing of follow-up, what procedures are planned & approximate cost ahead of time.

Sadly, I cannot recommend Tufts. Our kitty has been very sick and her condition began to deteriorate. We waited for eight hours total and asked a few times just to see our kitty briefly, even if just for a few minutes. They refused, despite that our kitty hadn't even been assigned a doctor yet. The veterinarian insisted on expensive blood work, despite the fact that our regular veterinarian had performed blood work the day before. We found that the veterinarian we interacted with was nonchalant and appeared not to care about our kitty. I was also alarmed by the state of the exam rooms. As you can see, there was fur and hay. The exam table appeared to have some dried body fluids. I understand that they're an emergency veterinarian clinic and there might not be a lot of time to clean between patients. However, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, exam rooms should be cleaned between patients. We're worried that our already vulnerable kitty could become sicker as a result of our visit. I've heard so many positive things about Tufts. Sadly, after eight hours, we're now $2k in the hole and we didn't receive any help for our kitty.

My leopard gecko recently became very sick, and this was one of the only places in the state that took leopard geckos. The wait was over 5 hours for them to even see her, just for us to realized we won't be able to afford to fix her. Thankfully, the vet understood my financial situation, and allowed me to take her home with some antibiotics and possible medication that could help her. I'm not sure if I would recommend this vet for exotics, as my gecko is still very uncomfortable, and we aren't sure if she is going to get better. I would def recommend dogs and cats here though!

The team at Tufts saved my 11 year old dog's life. Yes, it was pricey but I am forever grateful my dog received excellent care and she healed wonderfully. She was brought to the ER after having gone through the trash. We got there late in the evening and after talking to the doctor she was on the books for an endoscopy at 1:30am. Unfortunately at this point all the garbage had turned into a ball in her lower GI and they didn't want to keep causing trauma to her esophagus. They had to open her up and thank goodness it went this route. They found a few a secrets my old girl was hiding away. Tufts called me probably 7 or 8 times during the night and into the wee hours of the morning as they kept finding stuff and continuously updated me and educated me on these concerns. Not only was the wad of trash removed but so was her spleen and a biopsy was taken of her liver. One problem that threw us for a loop was her gallbladder. It was decided during surgery that it would be monitored and taken out after she healed from this round of surgery. However, after the surgeon discussed the state the gallbladder was in with the care team it was prioritized to be taken out immediately. So my poor dog went through 2 emergency surgeries in under 12 hours and was in the ICU for 3 nights. I was understandably an absolute mess throughout this ordeal but the folks at Tufts were nothing but kind to me (including the accounting department!) Even though the cost added up quick, I wasn't blindsided by it as they informed me up front what each surgery and her additional care would cost (thankful for CareCredit). They updated me when they said they would and didn't do a thing to my dog before speaking to me first. They didn't rush me off the phone and answered any question I had and discussed at length everything she through. I am so thankful for how Tufts handled everything and above all saving my girl's life!

The complete staff at tufts large animal hospital is amazing they took wonderful care of my horse and were so kind and willing to help guide me through the process. Even after his colic surgery they were there and available for any follow up questions (and I had so many) . I highly recommend them to anyone in need .

I have a cat with GI issues and turned to Tufts after a less-than stellar experience with another animal hospital. The internal medicine vet has been wonderful to both my cat and myself. My first visit was a telehealth appointment due to COVID and she spent a long time on the phone with me asking questions and going over my cat's medical situation. Different treatment options were offered and I never felt pressured to take the most expensive route. There is no doubt that veterinary care is costly, but I feel that my vet dollars are well-spent here. The communication has been excellent, with the vet herself making the calls and promptly returning my calls when I have further questions. I would definitely return to the Tufts clinic when specialized care is needed.

10 or 15 years ago this place was five stars. But in the last couple years they have gone downhill. And it breaks my heart to observe it. I don't want to embarrass anybody and name names but some of the behavior even with the doctors is ridiculous. Give me the old days of that place
