We absolutely love the Vista. The location, the Vista! from the hill, the retro feel, the great pool area, the nice little breakfast by the pool, the proximity to so many good restaurants and ice cream stands, the price and most of all, the wonderful, kind, helpful, hospitable staff. Just a lovely group of people. My wife found the Vista on a random search of motels in Gloucester about 6 years ago and we are now grateful regular repeat customers. We can't say enough good things about it and all the people.

Had a great stay at The Vista! I thought it would be smart to stay in Gloucester with a detour in Salem and I was not dissapointed. The closeness to the beach with stunning views from the bedroom made for an amazing stay. Staff was also super friendly on top of the clean and super cute rooms!!Rooms: Room was super cute! Came with a vintage pink bathroom and scenic view!Nearby activities: The beach was in walking distance with lots of cute restaurants that were also super friendly and welcoming!Walkability: Loved that the beach and a few restaurants were within a 15 minute walk! There’s also a shopping center not too far!Food & drinks: Breakfast was amazing. The eating area was super cute and scenic. The staff that gave us our breakfast was also super friendly and suggested we try her homemade pumpkin cake which was delicious.

Rally nice motel just outside Gloucester. Nice owner, clean rooms and a great view. Breakfast was also a plus. Just a 10 minutes walk to the beach and less than a 5 minutes drive to the beautiful town of Gloucester. We enjoyed our first day of vacation there on our Patio watching the sunrise. For dog owners: they have a very niice play area for dogs at the end of the property. Will come back for more than 1 night.

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend here. We got the top-of-the-line king room and found it to be clean and comfortable. Some might say the room was a bit dated but we didn’t see any issue with it. Staff was very nice, particularly at breakfast. It wasn’t the most filling hotel breakfast I’ve had but boy were their banana walnut, blueberry, and pumpkin breads good! There were blankets to enjoy eating outdoors when it was chilly—nice touch! Our favorite nights were when the hotel was less full and our stay was quieter. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony [when our neighbors weren’t being obnoxious]. We enjoyed the view of the marsh, beach, ocean and sunrise. We were glad we stayed here!

We stayed for two nights, then one night again a week later. From start to finish, we felt like The Vista is run by real, caring people. All our questions were answered promptly. Our rooms were a bit dated, but very clean and comfortable. We had every amenity we needed and more. We especially appreciated the refrigerator, which was larger than I expected. It held everything in our cooler that we were travelling with. The highlights of our stay were the stunning sunrise view of nearby Good Harbor Beach (which we walked one morning) and the delicious homemade breads that were offered as one of several selections for breakfast. As our visit was in October, Pumpkin bread and warm, spiced cider were on the menu! Other selections included oatmeal, boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee/tea. There are a couple tables indoors, but most were outside under a canopy--but never fear, heaters and blankets were even provided! The property itself was also beautiful, with lovely views and flowers. We came to Gloucester to go on a whale-watching tour, and we were not disappointed! The tour operators and downtown are only minutes away, but The Vista is far enough from town to be quiet and peaceful. We will stay here again if we come back!

Beautiful rooms with a great view. Prime location for getting to Ipswich and Salem. Adjoining rooms worked great for the whole family. When we forgot an item, we emailed, and they responded promptly saying they'd be able to mail it back with no problem. Would definitely stay there againRooms: Spacious rooms with fridge, microwave, and table with chairs. Bathroom was nice with cute retro blue tubs. The rooms had balconies that overlooked the ocean.Food & drinks: We went to Atlantis for breakfast and had good fresh fish cakes and pumpkin pancakes with homemade whipped cream

Booked this the day before to get a quick getaway. I was relying heavily on the reviews. I also called the hotel directly to ask some additional questions. You can not go wrong. As others have stated, it is very clean and a nice, friendly atmosphere. The pool was closed for the season. It looks to be a very nice pool! You need to drive to the beach. It is about a 1-2 minute drive. Off season, there is no cost to park. My husband has mobility issues. He was still able to navigate the wooden footpath over to the beach. There were many unleashed dogs on the beach, despite odd/even day postings. They were of all sizes and very well behaved. The water is ice cold! The view is spectacular! The weather this week was weather breaking warm. An added bonus! We were on the first floor, which was great. There is still an unobstructed view. There is a small efficiency kitchen. Refrigerator. Microwave. Stove top. Coffee mugs and coffee pot. The bathroom was clean. There is a hairdryer. Toiletries are in the room. The patio has 2 chairs and a small table. The blackout curtains work!! Sunrises are right outside your door. Shout out to Laura at the front desk, and Anna, who is a sweetheart. Anna was our complimentary breakfast server. Breakfast consists of several choices of yogurt, fruit, and homemade breads. Coffee is fresh and delicious. To be honest. Yes, the room could be updated. Was it fine? Absolutely. Bed was comfortable if you like a stiffer mattress. Laura us a wealth of knowledge about the area. Make sure you take in a trip to Rickport, which is very close. Also, a whalewatch out of Cape Anne, about 7 minutes from the hotel. Both are well worth it! We actually booked an extra day when we were there to extend our visit.
