Awesome experience with Victoria Prince in customer service! My new husband and I have both banked here for years, and after the wedding we wanted to open a joint account. Victoria laid out all of our options and helped us choose the right type of account for our needs. She was able to get all of our wedding checks (with multiple different names on them) seamlessly into a new account for us. We had been dreading going but Victoria made it quick and easy- we will absolutely use their services for all of our banking needs in the future!

If I use Uber or if I take money out more than twice it locks me out from using it until I call the bank. Almost got stuck in a city because the card wouldn’t work even though I had plenty of money on it.

Closes at 4pm. Services unavailable for an entire week due to a software upgrade. Why anyone would choose to bank here is beyond me.

There people are very nice and helpful - as good as any bank I have ever dealt with. The reason for 3 stars and not 5 is absurdity in fees. Almost every bank offers debit cards free of fees. Cape Ann charged $1 for each use as a debit card, but not when used as credit (less desirable for merchants; I have seen many that ask for debit instead of credit if possible and one that accepts only debit). To the bank's credit, the person who helped open my account was very clear about this and told me to always select credit when making a purchase to avoid the fee. I used this bank because I had the need for a business account in the town that has a branch, but would never use a bank with a fee structure like this for my personal account. And yes, the $1 fee also applies to personal accounts. The bank does not use state of the art security. Their idea of multi-factor online banking authentication is a password plus a security question. They did not even seem to be familiar with the industry standard of sending a one-time code to a cell phone or using a token generation app registered to the account. This meshes nicely with the account terms that are basically "customer agrees that any losses due to electronic fraud are their loss, not the banks". Updated: I just received by initial check order of two pads of 50 checks each (no cover included). I was not amused when I saw that Cape Ann Savings charged $33.99 for this. Wow. Just Wow. Any reorder will go to an independent (Walmart is $8.50 for 50% more checks)

This bank is the last one open in the morning and the 1st 1 to close if you're like most people and you work and 8 to 5 you're not gonna get to this bank unless it's on the 1 day a week that it's open late. Honestly am flabbergasted everytime what kind of babk opens that late everyday and closes so early pure laziness

If I could give no stars I would. I have had this bank since elementary school (nearly 20 years now) and I have nothing but horrible things to say. Customer service is a joke. Banking hours are even more comical, and to say branch locations are spread thin would be an understatement. They have issued debit cards that are incompatible with their own ATMs (yes, really) and their security measures are nothing more than an immense inconvenience to the account holder. If you live in gloucester and want access to your money, I'd advise storing it anywhere else...seriously, mattress, freezer; take your pick.
