I have been bringing my cars there for over 20 years, and I highly recommend Bobby. He takes the time to explain the work that needs to be done and completes the work in a timely manner. I’m writing this to try to help other people when booking here. I called ahead to book an appointment for my brakes and specifically asked if they thought they could do it in one day (preferable to me) or if I would likely need to leave the car overnight. I was assured over the phone that they would be able to do the brake job same day if I brought it in on X day at X time. I showed up at the pre specified date and time, handed over my keys, and sat in the waiting room to read my book. After more than an hour of sitting in the waiting room they came up to me and said that they “hoped I wasn’t waiting for my car” because they had “other jobs to do” and wouldn’t be able to even look at my car that day. Even if this situation was an honest miscommunication, which hopefully it was, it didn’t seem like they made much effort to see if they could even take a look at the car since I was already there (it was only 10:15am at this point). Since I obviously hadn’t arranged other transportation plans, I ended up just leaving with my car and ultimately ended up wasting time I’d taken off work, which was frustrating. I obviously can’t comment on the work they do, which other people seem to like (hence why I called them!), but I can say that my experience with the communication and respect here was disappointing to me. I hope this review can help other people better prepare for an appointment here by knowing to double check any expectations about timing.

I have known Cheryl and Bobby for over 12 years. They are the most professional and honest shop that you could find. There have been many instances where they have helped me save hundreds of dollars as compared to services offered at Subaru dealerships. They really are never after your money and will do their best to give you the best advice. Their work is very reliable and of high quality.

Bob did a fantastic job replacing a ball joint and rotted brake linings on my Subaru. He is thorough, honest and friendly. I highly recommend Speen St Automotive! The cost was much less than what the dealer quoted me and he uses genuine Subaru parts.

We've had great experiences here having work done on our cars (Subaru & Toyota) and recently a family member needed brakes replaced on her SUV. I told her to give them a call and this really speaks to what standup people they are - they referred her onto another great mechanic who did the job well and for much less than what the dealer wanted. We'll definitely be back and are happy to have found a trustworthy, reliable and affordable car shop owned & run by nice, genuine people.

Our 2008 Subaru Outback XT Limited has 205,000 miles on it and continues to be a solid and dependable vehicle thanks to Dave and Cheryl. The head gasket went at around 180,000 and in retrospect getting the Subaru head gasket done by Speen Street Automotive was one of the best financial and quality of life decisions I have made in recent years. We love the car and it runs better than ever with the new gasket. Aesthetically, the older Subarus have more appealing visual lines, in my opinion, being smaller and less boxy. (I have to hand it to Subaru on how indestructible they make the exteriors.) Dave worked with us on practical, cost effective solutions for the catalytic converter as well as new tires. Dave's catalytic converter recommendations literally saved us thousands of dollars over what the local Subaru dealer recommended. Over the years, Speen Street Automotive has saved us many thousands of dollars over what the dealer would have charged, and we have no car payments. Leather, moonroof, Bose sound, wood inlay, interior looks practically new. It would cost me considerably more to get a boring, pepless, plasticy new Corolla or Civic. I like keeping my transportation dollars local by supporting this excellent and dependable family business instead of a car manufacturing giant in another state or country. People think about sustainability and gas mileage but did you ever consider the carbon footprint required to put a new car on the road? Cheryl provides terrific operations support. You will not regret bringing your Subaru here.

We all know how difficult it is to find an honest and reliable mechanic. Fortunately, the team at Speen Street Auto fits that description to a T. My family has used them for almost 20 years, while I personally have used them for 3 years. Bobby does a great job of explaining the services preformed as well as what parts were needed, if any. (they have a comprehensive Subaru parts department too!) Without their mechanical expertise and continued support, my Legacy GT would not be on the road today. Do yourself a favor and bring your Subaru here. You won't be disappointed.
